Carling Cup Touts

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I've said all along I don't give a fuck about the beer cup, and that is how I feel.
Win it and it will be used to justify Wenger's refusal to spend, and as for hailing, it as a catalyst for further glory, what a load of bollocks, Wenger will see it as reason not to spend in the summer.
And if he plays AL and Co we won't win it anyway.
As for comparing it to the Chavs and Utd, going on to greater things, that doesn't compare, as the Chavs and Utd backed it up by spending money and strenghtening their squads.
Everytime we have won anything under Wenger he has rested on his laurels and refused to strenghten the squad for the following season, which is exactly why we have never been able to win back to back titles.

So I don't give a monkeys fuck what anyone thinks of my opinion on this, because either way I believe I'm right.
As for watching it? well I will wait and see if there is anything more stimulating to do other than watching fucking Denilson do his impression of a fucking crab. So yes I may mow my fucking lawn :banghead: :banghead:
Firstly sid old boy, I don't think anyone is saying if we win it we will deffo go on to better things. There is no guarantee of that. But we MIGHT. It's possible - and getting a trophy under their belts can only help the players.

Secondly alot of your argument seems to stand on Wenger using winning it as an excuse not to spend next summer. Honestly, mate - do you really believe Wenger will spend money next summer no matter what happens??!! Have the last 10 transfer windows (summer and Jan for the retards on here  ) taught us nothing about Arsene? :(

Wenger won't buy in the required players to strengthen the squad next summer no matter the result on Sunday.

I hope we win it. The only thing less prestigious than winning the CC final is losing it!

What a stupid fucking post.

Remember manure winning nothing for 3 years so they played for the CC? Got a taste for winning and some confidence then won the league 3 years running.

Twat
Lets not fuck about its a shit cup and if the players need this cup to give them a taste of winning then they need shooting, i dont agree with Sid and im really looking forward to the final on Sunday but lets not get carried away with the this is a catalist bollocks

Yes you could tell it meant bollox to the players when both Manure and the chavs won it.

This is exactly what our players need. Put the past to bed for fucks sake, vanish 1996 – 2005 from your memories for a minute. When we last won the league Jacky boy was 13 for fucks sake.

By winning this near enough it’s the whole teams first taste of glory. Of course this means allot.

Since 2005 its like a new team with a new Manager this is the first season we can win something. If it starts in 2011 then this is the first of many…? Hopefully!

We forget than near enough all the players haven’t ever won anything. When and if they win they will get such a taste for it.

Arsenal 1987 – wasn’t that our first trophy for a while

Manure – didn’t they win it and then go on to winning the league

Oh what about the Chavs – didn’t they win and then go on to winning league after league?

This game is massive for us, bring back the fucking glory
The mancs and chavs went on to win trophies because they had good teams/players not necessarily because they won the carling cup first, all this catalist talk isnt true there are as many teams that went on to win next to nothing as there is that went on to win more
True. But as you say, there are as many teams that went on to win more as there is that went on to win next to nothing.

As I said to sid, there is no guarantee, but it can only help the players belief and hunger to win a trophy.

On the other hand what impact would losing a final against shit like Brum have on the rest of our season? :? We are notorious for going into downward spirals after losing or being knocked out of a cup... :(
