Hello red snapper! What are you doing here?
Just visiting! This thread is really entertaining
What's the "oatcake" thing about?
I married a girl from Stoke, so I know all about oatcakes.
They are pancakes made from oatmeal. A typical Stoke breakfast is bacon, sausage, tomato, egg, etc, grilled on a plate and finished off with melted Cheshire cheese. This lot is then cut up and wrapped in the oatcakes. Bloody lovely.
Oatcakes are so popular in Stoke that there are little shops which sell nothing but oatcakes.
I'm suddenly missing my first wife.

My mother in law is a massive potter and she said that the reason stoke hate arsenal so much dates back to the early 70's when apparently we knocked them out of the cup twice in quite dubious games (in their eyes anyway) where we got some very generous decisions from the ref / cheated (or so she says, but before my tim so ill take her unbiased word for it). She said that we were the manure of the day getting all the decisions our way to and on both occasions arsenal absolutly robbed stoke city . From then on all stoke fans have hated "the arse" but never really got a chance to show it largely due to the fact they have been languishing in lower divisions until recently.

They really do have issues.
BBC Football
From Darren, London, text 8111: "I'm tired of hearing about 'physical' and 'dirty' Stoke, it's getting boring now, especially when the Fair Play league and everyone who watches with an open mind sees a different story. Only lazy journalists and fans who don't actually watch any games (Arsenal) keep rolling it out as an excuse or out of jealousy."
