The only aspect of this that I do have some sympathy for (even though I am still 100% opposed to the idea) is the principle of all fans having the chance to watch their team in the flesh. Prior to the whole membership scheme being introduced I used to be able to apply for tickets 2 months prior to any game and get them but when the scheme was introduced I refuse to join as I felt that it was just another way of getting cash from fans(how I regret that decision ). For a while I became a member of a supporters club some 40 miles away from me(but the still the nearest to me) in an attempt to source tickets but all I wanted was to buy the ticket not the whole package of flights,hotel etc plus because of the distance I didnt attend meetings so invariably when the tickets were dished out I didnt get 1(bar one exception). I have looked at friends who support manure,celtic etc and can source tickets at will and it made me envious of that privilege.

I would like to see a system where fans like me that live outside england can obtain these tickets(not at the expense of regulars mind). Maybe that system exists and I dont know of it and if it does I would appreciate if someone can give me that info. However that system should allow fans like me to buy ticktes for The Emirates and if going to these matches is so important to me then it is up to me to make the effort to travel as opposed to the whole bring the mountain to mohammad ethos If we go dosn this route we will become nomads or gypsys travelling the world but with nowhere to call home

Our players wages are going up? Rubbish. For every wage increase there is, there is a decrease in that a player gets sold. It's called balancing the books. How much money do you really think Arsenal will make off this little jolly? Also, how much money do you really think Arsenal need?

I did actually intend to put at the bottom of my last posting that if this idea was based on giving fans around the world a real chance to see their heros in action I could have some sympathy for it. However we all know that this is just a way to make extra money for the clubs from tv revenue,merchandise etc and we cannot support this idea. Enough is enough

When the NFL first bandied the idea of bringing International Games around a lot of that was based upon bring the game to the fans etc. In reality it was all about the money as I read on a NFL forum shortly after the London game that the yanks would only come again when it was time to fill up the piggy bank. Did this bother me? Did it fuck like. I went to the game and had an awsome experience. I guess much like any potential fan watching Arsenal play abroad will have. So I do not begrudge that to them, but that's about as far as it will go I'm afraid, I'll be happy to admit being two-faced, bring me more NFL match up's and I'll attend each and every game but I will not get behind this international footy agenda.

Can't they just play a friendly match overseas?

I'm a huge MLB fan. I've been lucky enuogh to go to Yankee stadium once, and would be thrilled if I could get to a match over here (especially if my team the red sox came over). Do you think I'd only go if it was a regular season match, and not if it was a one off friendly? Of course not, I would just jump at the chance of seeing them.

If these people are true fans who want to see the team, they wouldn't turn their noses up at friendlies would they. They would be delighted at the chance to see the team play.

My main gripe with all this is how unfair it is, Anyone backing the idea would soon change their minds if we got to the fixture being a point clear and had to play spurs, while man utd got derby.

No. Arsenal is a football club. I mean no offence by this, but how long have you supported Arsenal? By playing one game abroad, it is creating a precedent for it to happen more times a year. Thus further alienating the fans from the club.

You say that fans who live in all corners of the earth should get a chance to watch Arsenal, and you're right. But while there are people who live in Islington who can't attend games because they have families and simply cannot afford it, I don't see why other fair weather 'supporters' should be catered for. The club should be catering for people who live and breathe Arsenal Football Club, not some fucking people who will fill out a stadium and cheer for any team who scores a goal, just because one has been scored - just so they can earn a quick buck.

Our finances are steady. Why, oh why do we need to dip even more in to this market at all? Also, tell me this; how is it fair that we play 18 teams twice and 1 team three times? How the fuck is that fair? How the fuck is any of this fair?

I guess the main questions is this - if Arsenal go to play competitive games in foreign countries, what is in it for the supporters? If someone in Arkansas wants to watch Arsenal, they should fucking save up and come over here to watch us, because we are a London team. London is our home, so that is why we play home games there.

There is no justification for that at all other than sheer greed and it is fucking disgusting.

As many of you know, I am a lifelong Arsenal supporter and I have travelled through good times and bad to watch them. I had to do some hard saving for some of those trips and for others it was half a weeks wages. I don't feel the club owes me anything in regard to me supporting them. I chose them as a child (with a nice little push from my dad ) they did not chose me. They do not have to play in my country to keep me happy. Why should they?

Arsenal are an English team, a London team and it will always be that way and rightly so. As such they should play in the English league, in England. NOT in a European or World league (like UEFA and FIFA drooled on about a couple of years ago). Though we may be wasting our time here on this as I don't think it will happen because of the logistics and fairness issues. Who would want to play the supposed "Big Four" three times??!!

Y'know, I've always been made to feel welcome by English Gooners and we are a global family now, there's no denying that, but Arsenal (or any PL team) playing competitive games abroad is morally wrong for all the reasons Tony has listed above.

Genuine, diehard Arsenal supporters from other countries do already travel to see the team. Fair weather fans - save up and travel.

You're absolutely right mate. I couldn't agree more. For this all to be brought to an end, there will need to be a boycott of Sky Sports, attending game and what not, but we all know that isn't going to happen. I guess most of my frustration is born out of the fact that this is the direction the game (and in turn, our club) is heading, and I don't think there is anything we can do about it. As supporters, we just don't really matter any more.
