I'm just back from a couple weeks hols in Portugal and the poor little mite's poster is everywhere. God love her.

I have a two year old son and three year old daughter and I can't imagine what her parents must be going through; I'd die if it happened to one of mine.

Pray to God she is found alive and well.

Of course I'm praying for her safe return but the parents should be prosecuted for leaving 3 children of that age unattended while they were swanning around drinking at a tapas bar the other side of the resort! If you look at the ariel pictures there is simply no way you could have heard or seen those children if they woke up for any reason!

If you take small kids on holiday you have to make sacrifices i'm afriad, you have a nice dinner then go back to the apartment for the evening. i woudn't leave children unattended in my home let alone in some holiday resort

Apparantly they were checking back every half hour or so! well if thats the exaggerated checking up time (because lets be honest you'd exaggerate it to yourself to make you feel better) then its completely unacceptable.

Have to agree there. I feel so sorry for them, but they are guilty of neglect.

BTW - You practically described my holiday!! Nice family dinner then early night back at the apartment. You just learn to do all the activities during the day.

And our kids' matresses were moved into our room. We were fairly paranoid out there.

if i am in the park with my boy and i let him run around a bit whilst i sit on a bench reading the paper, i freak out when he goes out of vision. 10 seconds later i realise he just happens to be the other side of a tree or a climbing frame - not hiding or anything - just chance. and i often reflect, what a sad f**king world we live in that we can't relax and let kids run around in a park without being able to relax ourselves for fear of some twisted f**ker kindnapping them. just hope the developments with the russian bloke and the late night phone call from that english 'translator' murat lead to the discovery of the girl alive. has all the markings of a child abuse sex ring - a lot of this stuff comes from russia and there are a hell of a lot of russians in the algarve and costa del sol. yes, the parents were in the wrong, but hopefully their experience will lead to less parents taking exactly this kind of chance which i am sure thousands do every summer.

Spot on Gooner.Ed, the McCanns are not the first family to let their guard down whilst on a relaxing holiday and they certainly do not deserve this agony and traumatic experience they are currently going through. I believe that little Maddy is still alive and I just hope that she is recovered quickly and safely.

By far the worst possible seniro for any parent and no one deserves it. They will have to live with thier decision for the rest of their lives. The media haven't made a big thing about the fact that they left 2 2yr olds and a 3yr old on their own while they were out eating Tapas, maybe if they weren't doctors and lived on a council estate the blame would have been laid firmly at the parents feet. It don't take 2 seconds for a child to choke or fall out of bed, and as was mentioned earlier the parents would not have been able to hear them. Still pray that she comes home safe, although after 2 weeks things are beginning to look grim. Thoughts and prayers go out to her x x
