Arsenal win the league! (11/5)

Post by gooner.ed »

usual thread starter... ah, the memories. nights like this are what make football so great. and for the younger ones out there, liverpool were practically unbeatable at the time. winning 2-0 at anfield was unheard of. but the spirit amongst the boys was something else that night. boy, could we use a bit of that nowadays...

The best moment ever.

We've had some special times since but that was the greatest.

I remember the "Expert" summariser....David "sex in car parks" Pleat....congratulating Liverpool for their professionalism in "deliberately" losing the game 1-0 because thats all they had to do....jus before Michael Thomas assuring a place in history for them both!!

If someone had written a finish to the season like that it would have been dismissed as too far fetched!!!

I remember my late dad shouting at the t.v screen for John Lukic to "Kick the fucking thing" in the last minute.Lukic didn"t he threw the ball out to Dixon and the rest is history. The greatest day in our great clubs history.

I never tire of being reminded of that night; "1 minute to go..." I could recite that whole commentary word for word as a party piece and the "up for grabs" was our ansaphone message (my then boss supported Liverpool!). And, like Mike, just replaying those moments gives me goose pimples. :D
