CL Trophy....charity warning

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

CL Trophy....charity warning

Post by stg »

In the Highbury Barn today a man walked into the pub carrying a replica CL trophy and asking for money to have your picture taken with it for charity. A friend(yes I have some evening Rich) thought his badge looked fake so took the phone number and tried to call the number, the number did not conect to any phone line.

When it was suggested he wasnt who he said he was instead of trying to prove he was from a charity he got very abusive towards us. A heated argument ensued with a fight narrowly avoided and the man left the pub.

I would imagine he would of gone to many pubs around Arsenal today touting for money. So please look out for unscruplious charity collectors in pubs around The Arsenal area in the future

He was in the Gunners before Ipswich (Jan 25) and Everton (Feb 1) at least...

This guy has been doing the rounds for about 6 months. I see him in The Gunners on every match day & he often travels to aways. I gave him a couple of quid a few months back but haven't done since. To be fair he's always been very friendly when i've spoken to him & wouldn't like to think he's up to no good...

I got a photo with that trophy before Shaktah at home.
I was a tad pissed in The Gunners but I still look back and laugh at that tincup!
Bogus charity collectors however, not cool. :x

I believe that our resident orient-supporting cabbie posted a picture of himself with said bogus trophy in a local pub.

One can only summise from recent information that he did not in fact give money for the picture, but actually took money...

Saw the bloke in the Gunners before the Chelsea game, something didn't look right at the time.
