Our Squad: Changes that need to be made in the summer.

Post by Arsenal 1991 »

Ok, I know its probably a bit early for a thread like this but I don't think any of the players are going to change our minds.

This not a moan thread its a constructive and lets just assume that Wenger will sign some players.

What changes would you like to see made to the squad.

I would like to see Denilson, Diaby, Rosicky and Squillaci all leave no matter what. They'll be replaced by Lansbury, Ramsey, Frimpong and Bartley.

Then I would like Bendtner and Eboue sold. Backups would need to be bought for these two.

So my shopping list would be:
1 Young Right Back (to replace Bac in a few years)
1 Quality Striker to lessen the load off RVP
1 Quality Defensive Midfielder to give competition to Song and nurture Frimpong.

Yep I agree with getting Hangeland too if Vermaelen doesn't play again this season.

How much money would that take (ignoring the wenger part). £35m? Not a lot in the grand scheme of things is it?

Are we talking realistically, or fantasy-land? Cos I’d love us to go out & buy Lahm & Schweinsteiger from Bayern but I think there's more chance of Sid having Wenger's baby.

Less than £35m.

Realistically but no too realistic (ie AW signing no one). Within our budget.

I'd like to see the following

OUT - Squillaci, Denilshit, Almunia and Rosicky

IN - Samba or Hangeland, Given and Sahin

I think this is quite possible even on our frugal transfer policy and would work well with the youngs players coming through.

Who would Sahin play instead of, probably jack. Sahin isn't a proper defensive midfielder. Maybe we should look at Bender. Not sure about Given either as I wanted Almunia sold because I was worried about how he would react to not being no.1 but he seems to be ok. Hes ok as a reserve keeper.
