As someone said. The fact remains that when we've played barca 11v11 for 90 mins with our first team fit then we won. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

I know they had Puyol out but we had TV out so that even its up.

It's feels like 2004 all over again! Then,we were binned out of the F.A. Cup by Man Utd at the weekend, then out of the Champions League by the chavs,( I think),in mid-week. The matches are just the other way around this time!

Thats the one gutting thing about the 03/04 team. They should've won more trophies. I can't believe they only won an fa cup and a pl. But they probably would've won more if it wasn't for the cheating manc scum and that Russian *word censored*.

???

I was just stating a fact which had nothing to do with yesterday. We all have our opinions but we were slowing getting into the game then RVP got sent off and the momentum swung straight back into their favour and there was no going back from there.

I don't give a fuck how many chances they had, remember the west ham game at the emirates or countless other examples where we've dominated a team and they've won. We had a chance until the ref took that away from us.

When everyone was fit we won, fact. 8)

You want to play them again because "we're getting closer" Fuck me if zero shots (even with 11 players) compared to 15 or 20 from those *word censored* is getting closer id hate to see what far away is

I think we have to accept that the Whores are little more than mid-90s era Man Utd as far as class (or lack thereof) goes. The surrounding of the ref and getting in his face with every incident/decision. The diving. The dirty fucker that grabbed RVP by the throat - yet escaped punishment. Dani Alves was unbelievably not booked despite following through on the man and leaving markers in with nearly every tackle.

Without a doubt they were the better team, hands down, but alot of that is down to their high impact play; they pass and move alot but when they lose possession they chase you down with 3 or 4 players very quickly. They could not have kept that tempo up for 90 minutes if we had had 11 on the pitch. It’s no coincidence that we have scored against them late on in recent games. They get tired. And if that late great ball from Jack had landed in RVP’s path rather than Bendtner’s? Well, who knows, huh?

Even though we were outplayed I still feel cheated by that result last night. UEFA should punish the ref but they won’t, they got what they wanted, the Whores are still in the CL. Disgraceful.

As for our players, after RVP went off I was quite proud of how some of them battled and gave everything, in particular young Jack. Even AA23 was back there busting tackles in the box!! And both Kos and Johan did fairly well against a relentless tide of Whores (bit like Benjy in Paris in 06!! :-P )

I thought Rosicky, Diaby and Sagna were appalling though. Diaby seems to think he is Vieira and can just take his time on the ball. Unfortunately he is lacking Paddy’s ability. And Sagna looked like a scared child out there. Rosicky just brings nothing to the table. Nothing.

Still cannot believe Cesc tried a fucking back heel on the edge of our box.... Back in the day, George Graham would have thrown a table at him in the dressing room afterwards!

My big concern now is our (probably) inevitable collapse. With the Manc Filth on Saturday in the Cup and some real banana skin PL games coming up (Scum away, Filth home and the resurgent Mousers) I have this awful feeling we will once again spiral out of all comps in a period of two weeks or so. It’s like Groundhog Season.

And alot of (maybe all of) this could have been avoided by just adding a couple of quality signings last summer and in January. No need to break the bank. Just sign a couple of experienced quality players to strengthen the squad. I’m as frustrated as a nun with a wide on! :(
Totally agree with your review of the match pretty much word for word.

I personally only really want the league now, of course if we can go up there an beat United - fantastic but i wont get TOO down if we dont.

The league is what we should be aiming for, because it is most definately on.

The one plus side is, given our injury list, i doubt we could have had a proper run at the CL and the Prem at the moment - it gives a proper focus now - ive been impressed with a lot I have seen this season, i really hope they can back it up with a trophy.

Have to give massive, massive credit to Almunia last night - he is not a great goalkeeper, he is not even in our top 2 goalkeppers - but to come in in those circumstances and put in a perfomance like that, given the last few months was a real credit to the man. Poor goalkeeper overall yes, but his shot stopping can be second to none at times - this isnt the first time he has done this against Barca remember. He will be a good GK for a mid-prem side if he can find some consistency.

I hope those that have called him a "c**t" in the past look at last night and realise, that as a man, he really did show some Gooner Spirit last night - i hope he goes on to some success in the future 8) (he might well win us the league first 8) )

Shots on Goal,
Barcelona 19,Arsenal 0.
Passes,
barcelona 700+,Arsenal 100+.

The RVP sending off made little difference. We were taught a footballing lesson!Even Merse on SSN said that he was "EMBARASSED" by the team!!!

Embarassed by the team is very very harsh  Personally I cannot agree either with the convenience of hanging almost all the responsibility of last night on the ref and that sending off cos it is hiding from reality imo. In 90+ mins we touched the ball twice in their penalty area  In 90+ minutes we had zero shots on target  Fact is that we were largely lucky to win the first leg at the grove and last night just confirmed how much better than us they are :( Hell there is no shame in that as such cos that barca team is outstanding despite what many begrudging Gooners might like to say and sometimes you just have to tip your hat in acknowledgement to the opposition. Last night I wont even blame wenger for his tactical plans........last year we were too open and he rightly got slated as a result so this year he tries to play a tighter more compact game and if the useless danish streak of shite scores then the gameplan works.

However while I will defend wenger on that point, I also cannot get away from the fact that (a) he started rosicky (b) he started a clearly unfit cesc (c) he took so fcuking long to make a change (d) that he has accumulated a squad that is overloaded with shite like diaby, bendtner, denilson etc. The man has to go and right now I am begging with him to walk away

They had TWO clearcut chances before the sending off and it was finely in the balance.

What do you mean even Merse said he was embarrassed. He is not a gooner anymore. He was a club legend but hes never pro arsenal in the media, like dixon or nicholas.

Chances 2,shots on TARGET 0.
As an ex-player,(and a pundit), he has every right to express his opinion,(that is what he was on SSN to do). Also Nicholas said that he was not impressed either.

Can we stop all this zero shots on target guff? Inter milan had zero shots on target at the nou camp last year and the amount of mourinho cock-sucking going on on this forum at the time was incredible.

There is no shame in not seeing much of the ball at the nou camp, how many teams that play there do?

We scored a goal. FACT.

Inter milan and chelsea both failed to score at the nou camp. FACT.

We were ahead in the tie after 150 minutes of football, level on the night and on the way up at the time of the sending off. FACT.

I think people are trying to convince themselves that the sending off didnt change the course of the game to avoid facing up to the fact that we were fucking robbed by a corrupt ref last night. Put your obsessions for slagging this team off to one side for a second and realise what actually happened last night.
