There is no shame in not seeing much of the ball at the nou camp, how many teams that play there do?

We scored a goal. FACT.

Inter milan and chelsea both failed to score at the nou camp. FACT.

We were ahead in the tie after 150 minutes of football, level on the night and on the way up at the time of the sending off. FACT.

I think people are trying to convince themselves that the sending off didnt change the course of the game to avoid facing up to the fact that we were fucking robbed by a corrupt ref last night. Put your obsessions for slagging this team off to one side for a second and realise what actually happened last night.
Absolutely agree on every point!
LDB, you were doing well up to the point in bold. What the fuck are you on about? Oh so the penalty Messi should have got was all part of UEFA's masterplan not to make the corrupt ref look obvious was it? Ref was shit, Wenger's tactics were shit, Cesc, Diaby, Rosciky had shit games.
Shit happens, corruption is a great excuse for Wenger's failure AGAIN against Barcelona
I sort of understand where LDB is coming from, but Inter and the Chavs play a totally different game to us, and it's not the first time we've played and had no shots on target, I think the 2-0 loss at Chelski was another example.

Whilst you can argue that the sending off was harsh, it was a brainless thing for RVP to do, to carry on and shoot, just don't give the c**t of a ref an excuse to show red, also RVP must have seen the flag go up, the pass leading up to it, was on that linemans side, thickness in the extreme, and also another ready made excuse for Wenger.
How do you explain that the centre half kept playing, aswell as their keeper who did his best to save the shot? The only one that stopped playing was the other centrehalf who raised his hand for offside - perhaps more in hope than belief, i dont know. But i know for sure that the centrehalf and keeper wouldnt have kept playing if they heard any whistle.

I think everyone has to agree that the sending off changed the course of the game - whether we could have held out is purely spectulation, but my own opinion is that perhaps we could have.

Unfortunately we will never know.

Just got back, what a fucking few days that was. Can't write much cos I'm knackered but basically drank a lot, met a lot of good gooners, got a ticket (375 euros off a British tout) and saw an absolute fucking joke of a referee. One of the worst red card decisions I've ever seen in my life, how the fuck was van persie meant to hear his fucking whistle? *word censored*. Spoiled the game and sneaked barca through when they looked like they had no plan b whatsoever.

An Opta spokesman said: "There have been 981 Champions League games since 2003-04 and Arsenal are the first of 1,962 sides not to manage a shot of any form in a match since then."

Yet amazingly we could've won the game!

Yeah but remember, RVP would have hit a hat-trick in the last 30 mins because Barca can only play for 60 minutes a game. It's obvious we would have won that game. The ref was a homer! Arsene was right, everyone is against Arsenal and want us to win nothing!*

*This post is absolute bollocks and the poster in no way agrees with the Arsenal manager and his constant excuses that try to cover up his own shortcomings. Furthermore, the poster thinks that the club will be in a much better position if they remove said manager from his place of work at the end of May 2011.

So RvP's shot after the whistle went didn't count either then.

Got home in the early hours of this morning from Barcelona and wished now I had booked Thursday off work too! Great trip despite the result and If the Arsenal fan wearing the yellow away shirt with 'SONG' on the back is reading this. (You were in with the Barcelona fans below us. I was in block 524) You are a fucking legend! You sang your heart out and when we got the equaliser you took your top off and swung it around your head like a nutcase despite being clearly outnumbered. I know there were Arsenal fans scattered amongst the Barca fans but this guy seemed to be all on his own surrounded. Fair Play to you

Amazingly, stats don't win games do they......

How many times have we had 20 shots in a game and 60% possession and still not won. And we've been mullered for it in the press whereas Barca get lauded for doing pretty much the same thing!

For all their fancy, intricate footwork they were out thought and out fought by Arsenal (like they were by Inter last year) and struggling to come up with ideas after we'd equalised. How can even the most dyed in the wool Wenger hater deny that we'd have got through - and probably won on the night - if RVP had stayed on the pitch!

I was looking for the smiley at the end...did you forget it ?

:duh: :duh:

They totally dominated us, outclassed us, made us look like an amateur team from start to finish, they are on a different planet to us, anyone who can't see that needs their brain examined.
It's bad enough the manager continually deludes himself about the realities of our failings with all his excuses, but fans doing it aswell just makes him believe that he can get away with not dealing with them and this prevents us from improving...

They continually cut us apart before and after Rvp went off, only wasteful finishing by them kept us in with the remotest of chances..The game was never about what we were going to do it was always about how many of their chances they were going to convert.

It wasn't Rvp's sending off that was the catalyst for there 2nd and 3rd goals, it was our goal, they upped their tempo and became more aggressive around the box because they needed the goals, when they don't need the goals they play a far more patient wait for a clear cut chance to appear mode. The equaliser made them force the issue and once they got the goals they needed they went back to toying with us again..

Rvp's sending off had little effect on the game we were totally dominated before he went off and totally dominated after he went off...if you really think that was the difference on the night p.m me i've got a ponzi scheme for you to invest your life savings in...
