Your attempts to remain optomistic in the face of what is happening are commendable.Glitch33 wrote:clockender1 wrote:that was when we had pace in the midfield rather than just good passers.Chippy wrote: This is one of the things that AW teams have lost. We could counter attack and score goals in about 5 seconds. Now we pass the ball for a few minutes to make sure all the defenders are back.
When Walcott is out injured (again) we have no pace.

But none of them will go except the bottom 3 as long as Wenger remains manager. With the exception of Rosicky in his first 2 seasons at the club the rest have never been good enoughQuartzGooner wrote:I think the players can be divided into two groups.
Those that should be replaced:
Eboue
Squillachi
Denilson
Diaby
Rosicky
Bendtner
Vela
Traore
Randall
Watt
and the rest who can stay and fight for their places.

Agree, AW seems to hate the very players he bigs up - Watt "the new Henry" etc.donaldo wrote:But none of them will go except the bottom 3 as long as Wenger remains manager. With the exception of Rosicky in his first 2 seasons at the club the rest have never been good enoughQuartzGooner wrote:I think the players can be divided into two groups.

I love Cesc to death but u are right my friend. No need to keep on playin 4-5-1 to suit him. He'd be great in 4-4-2 aswell. Problem is when u build a team around someone and he gets injured, has an off day - where the fuck are u then. Cesc is great but relying on the chap too much - rushing him back etcaugie wrote:I have always argued that building our team around cesc is the main reason why we no longer play with any real pace
Fantastic. And in a couple of those there was a bloke called Fabregas......xDAVEYx wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSyaVhuIqCUChippy wrote:Jesus will one of you you younger ones dig out one of the many (dozens) of counter attacks of the 1998-2004 teams!

This is what is tough for me, worked my butt off last few years, and spent good money following my team, this team lack passion. I feel so bloody sad it's unreal. Even under damn Don Howe is thought I never feel the same again.tel wrote:Great post, agree with all of it. Charging people top dollar to watch a team that is lauded as the best in the land, when in reality it is built on sand.
Look at those 9000 Gooners in the stands.
Wenger is like the new Bernie Madoff.
I am fucking livid!
I admit I think Wenger's been great for our club, but we may have to consider a change somewhere within his staff.

Guilty as charged on Gibbs. But Chambo held first half of season together then got the shaft when went off form - started 3 league games since last goal at Villa and he done alright work rate wise in those games. But still Bentmember gets the nod ahead of him ???GunnerDude wrote:Where did all the Gibbs loving go?
How many times have i said he is not ready but yet some on here thought otherwise. The term "Players seem to player better on the bench" springs to mind.
And we have the 5ft 4 lazy man who keeps gettin picked no matter what

Aint that the truth

Funny thing is that most of those goals are since we moved to the grove when really our best counter attacking years were the last few at highbury
Well it makes sense in a way that we don't counter the way we used to.augie wrote:xDAVEYx wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSyaVhuIqCUChippy wrote:Jesus will one of you you younger ones dig out one of the many (dozens) of counter attacks of the 1998-2004 teams!

4-4-2 is gawn. These days it is all 1-9-1 at home.

Seriously, football has changed a lot. I'd say we've changed to become a possession team becasuse on the whole opposition teams camp out to steal a point which in todays football is worth literally millions of pounds.

With flooded midfields and one up front the norm, its gonna be god damn hard to counter that shit.
You'd need to invite pressure these days in order to counter attack effectively and I think, I think, even Wenger knows he can't rely on our defense to soak up pressure.
