You're right to an extent, but eventually they do have to listen when the press etc get on the back of it. Why? Because sponsors don't want to be associated with losers. Losers on the pitch + losers off of it eventually.Rosie_titters wrote:frankbutcher wrote:No, you fool. Even if I don't turn up, they still count me as part of the attendance. It can change things though. If the press knew the tide was turning with the Arsene knows brigade , it would gather more and more momentum.Rosie_titters wrote:frankbutcher wrote:No, you fool. Excellent post. I think our ultimate goal is to get our club back to where it was from 1998-2005 since it was there under this manager and this Board and without breaking the club financially to do it.Metalheadz Gooner wrote:Need to start a twitter and facebook campaign to start to get real numbers of people who back this protest.
The main objective I believe is for Arsenal to be our side again. Not Wengers toy or shareholders cash cow. We want our club to be challenging for honours, be attracting & purchasing the best players in the world. Because right now it just feels like a them and us situation. And the fan base is split between the Arsene knows brigade and the Arsens out brigade.
We need a manager who brings the club together again and unites us. We need players who understand how you win and have the know how to deal with the pressure when it matters.
I also think you are right inpointing out our goal is to address the needed changes whether they are simply a matter of managerial or of actual Board policy.
This is why the earlier comments about the Shareholders meeting were also quite valuable in Frank's orignal post. Our goal has to be to try and get and the Board to answer the questions it does not want to, even if you believe its all down to the manager they still are ultimately responsible for not acting to correct that and we should press them as to why they have not as that may lead them to do so - again if that is the case.
Obviously I do not believe that is the case. The key is that nay movement has to open its mind now to both possibilities, because one it actually could be either possibility, and two if we open ourselves up both to those who simply say Wenger out and those who believe the Board has a greater role in this we have a bigger movementt (the whole idea of the petition was as much as trying to get the point across building a network of people through it concerned enough to go further if and when that was needed).
But if we do not automatically subscribe to any one theory it will give us more supporters to work with, as well as allow us to sttand for the club no matter what the issue we need to resolve ultimately is, which should be all our goal.
Social networking can also aid in achieving this obviously, especially since we are working against time if we want to set up genuine actions for a movement to take. I have a facebook site its kind of dead but it is a starting point. It got some hits. I think a new page would be most appropriate as I cannot change the sites name unfortunately to Concerned Gooners 2011 for whatever reason plus I just don't go into facebook enough regularly myself for whatever reason . I would be happy to help out though
The only way to make this inept board and major shareholders listen is through a drop in value. There is no free float of shares in Arsenal, so as long as we keep qualifying for the CL, the four sets of major shareholders' value is protected and they could not give a shite what we say. All the while there's a full Club level, 10 year waiting list for season tickets and every home game sold out.....it sadly matters little what we say. There's no loss of value to them through a share price drop if they receive negative press and that's the truth of it.
Having spent thousands of pounds every year watching the club I have sadly resigned myself to the fact that all the while the 'lock down' agreement is in place, so the GIC will be in place, the lack of trophies will remain and us supporters are simply pawns in the game.

instead of starting facebook, twitter or online message boards campaign's why not design a flyer and hand it out too fans coming to the emirates - have 1/2 dozen people by the tube stations and another dozen around the ground - you will be lucky to get a 1000 on facebook or twitter
I think what the press needs to know is that the supporters want real answers form the Board - whether its down to manager or their own decisions that we are where we are. That we no longer trust the same old information they choose to provide us when they choose to provide it.Metalheadz Gooner wrote:It can change things though. Which ever view you take on the cause of all this it is clear that the media has not asked a lot of questions about these policies or that is has asked fairly easy questions and failed to ask hard questions even as follow-ups to answers that don't sound right given the public knowledge - such as that we do have plenty of money available to spend and are not in any danger of risking bankruptcy by spending some or even most of it.

Good idea. I'd put in £100 to cover some of the costs.Rosie_titters wrote:USMartin wrote:Excellent post. I think most Arsenal fans need to ask themselves some questions first of all.
Question 1 being "why is that you are so disapproving of an Usmanov or Kroenke potential takeover"
Is there anyone out there in their tiny mind who thinks that having a club that is neither
a) a true plc with a free float of shares and voting rights
b) a privately owned business with a clear investment strategy
......is in better shape that being either a) or b). So what would happen if Usmanov took over; the end of the world as we know it ? Of course not - all the bullshit scaremongering about Chelsea and United's ownership pisses me off. Neither of those clubs are going out of business anytime soon - name me a major club that has....ever.....and I mean a major fucking club not Aldershot or some Serie B outfit.
The club has no clear investment policy, no clear strategy....it is a cluster of major shareholders waiting for one or the other to stump up the cash and pay them a major premium to take a controlling interest. Meanwhile Rome burns.....

I'm not on twitter. Anyone else on it? Let's wait until there is something organised. Otherwise it's all pie in the sky. I'm quite happy to write the 'mission statement' for the Protest Group.QuartzGooner wrote:You could contact Henry Winter at the Daily Telegraph, last night he Tweeted "Wenger needs to bring in a couple of bulldogs to protect the butterflies".
He might be interested.
I think that should be done ALONGSIDE a flyer campain, print the name of the group on the flyer and watch the numbers fly up. We need to start some sort of facebook group as soon as possible, anybody good at that sort of stuff?Rosie_titters wrote:USMartin wrote:Excellent post. i'll gladly join the list.
couple of words of warning tho
anyone who wants to do this around block 6 had better be ready for a reaction.me and mikeyb have been in countless arguments and borderline fights for even daring to critisise wenger or any of the players, the whole block is split down the middle and those on wengers side dont take kindly to abuse chucked his way.
secondly, really cant see it happening at an awayday, cant remember the last away i went to with out hearing the one arsene wenger being sung.
think the banner outside the armoury or directors carpark is the way to go for the liverpool game, see how it goes and then we've 2 weeks to step it up before blackburn if it goes well.
as has been said already tho- we need a clear message and while we can all agree we will not get within a sniff of the league this season, many wont want to join a protest while technically we can still win it.this could lose the fence sitters forever.
agree this need to be arranged now tho cos by the time liverpool comes around and we are well out of it,the action will already be in place.
mods.......for the sake of no more arguments on this site like the other night could we please ask that all posts by deliberate wum's are removed as this seems to me a serious take action thread that needs no us martin louder or whoever else, start your own pro-wenger thread
