However I now have a few more questions and would be grateful if you could provide me with your views for this set of questions? All answers will be kept confidential and as many views and opinions by 'proper' football fans will be truly appreciated.
Q1 What do you believe are the reasons for the influx of foreign players to the Premier league?
Q2 Do foreign players have an impact on home grown players?
Q3 Do you agree or diasagree that 'foreigners' involvement within the Premier league affects the results and performances of the National team?
Q4 What changes could be made to increase the numbers of English born players or (UK) in the Premier league?
Q5 Do you believe 'foreigners' have a deterimental effect on any aspect of the English game?
Q6 Is the success of your club team who you support week in and week out more of a priority than the performances and results of the National team? Please explain

English players have a terrible attitude and are overpriced.PremWatch wrote:Q1 What do you believe are the reasons for the influx of foreign players to the Premier league?
Yes, but not the positive effect it should have. It should spur on English players to be the best they can be, but it actually gives them an excuse to not even try.PremWatch wrote:Q2 Do foreign players have an impact on home grown players?
Disagree.PremWatch wrote:Q3 Do you agree or diasagree that 'foreigners' involvement within the Premier league affects the results and performances of the National team?
I wouldn't.PremWatch wrote:Q4 What changes could be made to increase the numbers of English born players or (UK) in the Premier league?
Yes, but it should be a positive effect. The English press and young players all look for someone to blame for their own shortcomings, when really they should be learning from these, clearly more talented players.PremWatch wrote:Q5 Do you believe 'foreigners' have a deterimental effect on any aspect of the English game?
Yes. I'm an Arsenal fan. Pure and simple.PremWatch wrote:Q6 Is the success of your club team who you support week in and week out more of a priority than the performances and results of the National team? Please explain

Re: CALLING ALL FOOTBALL FANS?
They bring an added dimension to the league, with increased levels of flair, skill, athleticism and professionalism, and because these virtues seem to be innate at a cultural level almost everywhere outside of the UK then the reservoir of very capable foreign players is practically limitless and following the proven theory of supply and demand, in turn, makes them considerably cheaper than their domestic counterparts!PremWatch wrote: Q1 What do you believe are the reasons for the influx of foreign players to the Premier league?
Yes they do, and there's currently plenty of debate surrounding extent of that impact and how it manifests itself thru cause and effect - for example the demise of the national team is blamed on the fact that we do not have enough homegrown players in the Prem, as the current ratio is down to around 50/50, but that still leaves a pool of over 200 English players from which to build a decent international side and because of the cosmopolitan make up the Prem, those players are already used to playing against some of the best players the world has to offer week in week out!PremWatch wrote: Q2 Do foreign players have an impact on home grown players?
So you have to ask how exactly would it benefit our league to drop the standard by limiting imports nevermind that it's illegal, but up and coming young English players have got to know that they are going to be up against the Fabregas' of this world when it comes to competing for places at a top club and raise their game accordingly, so that when English teams do come up against foreign teams be it at club or international level they will be better equipped!
For proof of this you only have to go back to when our club sides were banned from Europe for 5 years due to the Heysel disaster! The fact that we were effectively cocooned from the rest of the continent for such a lengthy period of time was blamed as the reason for the subsequent demise of our previously all-conquering clubs at that level - the whole thing just smacks of no matter that the problems and failings at grass roots level are plain for all to see the powers that be, and others that really should know better would far rather stick their heads in the sand or point the finger at someone else, typically and infuriatingly a club like Arsenal cos it's easier to stir up xenaphobia than do the job they are paid very handsomely for - BY US I might add, and it's especially maddening considering Arsene Wenger has otherwise been accredited with bringing the high standards associated with the foreign game, namely training techniques, diet, and adopting a attitude more suited to an athlete ie resisting the temptation of the WAGs and the celebrity lifestyle in general, to the English game!
Well as I said above it probably has affect them in the short term, but it needn't do in the long term if the authorities realise or more accurately admit that the domestic coaching system to mention one area is fundamentally flawed and do something about it before the situation becomes irretrievable!PremWatch wrote: Q3 Do you agree or diasagree that 'foreigners' involvement within the Premier league affects the results and performances of the National team?
Well it's not like the FA are short of a bob or two so it actually shows how incompetent they are when the much trumpeted richest league in the world cannot fund an accomplished coaching system capable of supplying home grown players to their own league with basic things like 1/2 and 3/4 size pitches instead of selling them off, forcing 9 year olds to hoof the ball up an ever decreasing number of full size pitches, instead of learning close control and technique!PremWatch wrote: Q4 What changes could be made to increase the numbers of English born players or (UK) in the Premier league?
If and when and only when those changes are implemented will we see the tide turning as more English players reach the required standard, making them cheaper to buy as a result, and that is the only way to do it, cos not only do current European laws prevent restiction of movement and free trade, but it is totally impractical and IMO irresponsible and shortsighted to try and artificially support or protect the league by trying to introduce legislation!
Yes, diving, as the continentals learn and practice at the professional level a much less physical game, and so it has slowly crept in to our game, for which the foreigners are derided but then again Rooney probably one of the most physical players never mind strikers in the world was booked for a ridiculous dive last weekend, of course very little mention of it was made in the media especially compared to if it had been a "Johnny Foreigner"!PremWatch wrote: Q5 Do you believe 'foreigners' have a deterimental effect on any aspect of the English game?
Absolutely, it's inevitable considering that your club plays week in week out, and you can have banter with people you live and work with or your mates down the pub who support different clubs, somethin which is impossible regarding international level, and that is IMO why the club game will always reign supreme, even AW has said he has no interest in international management because he would miss the day to day involvement of managing a club as opposed to a country!PremWatch wrote: Q6 Is the success of your club team who you support week in and week out more of a priority than the performances and results of the National team? Another point that is worth mentioning is that international football has become less attractive and/or necessary due to competitions like the Champions League and because it has become very defensive, in fact the last decent international tournament was Italia 90 nearly two decades ago!

Re: CALLING ALL FOOTBALL FANS?
Q1 What do you believe are the reasons for the influx of foreign players to the Premier league?
well with more money and more resources, teams can scour the globe looking for talent and tecnhique that is far cheaper than an english long ball player. these players are far more committed and disciplined to their job and work far harder than many english players, although any real links or affiliation to the club are more strained.
Q2 Do foreign players have an impact on home grown players?
depends in what way- in several really, some i cna be bothered to go into, some i cant. they can keep british players out of the team, but also can be a role model or idol to many. Im sure bergkamp, zola et al. were tremendous players for youth team players to aspire to. Also commitment lifestyle diet and dedication to the game may have rubbed off onto many of the players.
Q3 Do you agree or diasagree that 'foreigners' involvement within the Premier league affects the results and performances of the National team?
i guess you mean england. many would say so but i disagree. if young british players were good enough to come through and play i.e. man city and aston villa, they would cos it means clubs are spending less money when its under their noses. A quick fix is to go and buy a cheap foreigner rather than grooming through british talent, but if its not good enough, there are many across various continents who are.
Q4 What changes could be made to increase the numbers of English born players or (UK) in the Premier league?
a set up like the claire fontaine in france, and certainly an overhaul of coaching and coaching training so staff are capable of improving players and giving them adequate acitivites. kids need to have more coaches and a far greater emphasis on technique training and discipline if they want to get better. Maybe the FA should consider allowing kids going on a two trip to france, ital and holland to see how many light years ahead their coaching is.
Q5 Do you believe 'foreigners' have a deterimental effect on any aspect of the English game?
it restricts the chances of british players developing into potetntial world class players. However the technique, attitude and quality is generally 'within' foreign youngsters at an early age due to englands far out-dated training and coaching methods, so these foreign players are capable at a younger age of seemlessly moving into first team squads.
Q6 Is the success of your club team who you support week in and week out more of a priority than the performances and results of the National team? Please explain
Yes. I've supported arsenal since i was 4 and they are the only club i want to see do well. We have a terrific team and structure here and personally i couldnt care less about england. Ur probably trying to get at if im bothered if we're full of foreingers or not. I'd love to see many british players at arsenal playing the type of football fabregas, hleb and adebayor play but none are good enough.
Cappello's 4-5-1 against switzerland hihglighted the lack of technique the english team has and u cnat blame arsenal for that. We couldnt string more than 2 passes together. Foreign national team players have the ability and interchanging between several positions during a game,a nd thus every player in every position is comfortable on the ball. we dont have that luxury cos our training methods are pretty poor.
if england do well, happy days, but if u asked me would you prefer england to win the world cup or arsenal winning the champions league final - or even the league cup, i picked arsenal every time.

my view
Q1 What do you believe are the reasons for the influx of foreign players to the Premier league?
Foraign players are cheaper, and have a better attitude.
They work hard. Therefore are a better investment.
Also some foreign players come to the premier league with experience they acquired from playing in the top flight in other countries.
Q2 You would expect talented foreign to have a positive effect. Working every day on the training pitch should give the young english players a chance to improve.
It might harm players by not allowing them a chance to show what they can do therefore harming their confidence. Bently, clearly a talented player couldnt break into the arsenal first team, now seems looks like a good player for endland.
Q3 In my opinion it has a negative effect for the simple fact that the there are less players the england manager can see every week, maybe the players who are on top form are not always given a chance because a foreign player is currently in the first team.
Q4 i would only say improving acamdemies, open up new ones over the country, maybe have more scouts who would look for talents at very young age. Get more kid playing football, as well as giving them proper coaching concentrating on technique, as opposed to strenght.
Q5 No
Q6 Arsenal is more important,
But i would like to see England do well too
Intrnational football is different because the whole nation comes together for one cause. Also intenational tournaments are every 2 years,
Arsenal is 365 days a year.
