The way to get their attention

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I go to the gym for a couple of hours and come back to a shit-storm. We need to not get ahead of ourselves. We have one crack at this, and need to get it right. This thread was set up so that we could brain-storm everything then go public. So let's just chill out a bit. 8) If we take 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months to get everything sorted, fine.

For me, a large part of any protest needs to be about respect for the fans. We seem to be at the bottom of the food chain, and this needs to stop. The players repeatedly disrspect the away support by failing to acknowledge them (bar Eboue and Jack). This also covers the lies that we are told repeatedly about transfer targets, whilst season ticket prices rocket. The Club need to be honest with us. We were told that a move to the Emirates was to allow us to compete. It seems to have had the opposite effect. We need to be seen as fans, not customers.

We are the lifeblood of the Club.

I'll have a go at a mission statement tomorrow.

BTW - I think ArsenalFC not PLC, will get us into shit over Copyright.
Then we use the original none copyrighted logo and just write under it, The Arsenal, a football club not a plc. It becomes the logo for the group.

I'm no legal expert but we've contravened nothing that way have we...or have we :?
Like it a lot, can anyone use photoshop? Think it would look good.

I'm off to sleep on this one. Hopefully wake up with a few ideas and look foward to reading all the posts whilst I should be working tomorrow morning.

Nothing will get changed this season, so we have no reason to rush into anything. If we go about this properly and in the right fashion, in time, we will get what we want.

In it for the long haul.

We'll look a bit stupid doing this while we could still win the league if the aims are unclear too.

I'm gonna take a bit of a backseat on the organisational side for the most part, certainly to begin with. However, I'm gonna knock up a logo for you guys, just a bit unsure exactly what you want on it at the minute. The old school cannon with the slogan underneath?

My personal view is that Wenger leaving the football club at this moment isn't in the club's best interest (just about). But that isn't the issue.

It seems to me that the movement needs to be more long-termist than that. Removing Wenger and replacing him with someone or other with a similar transfer/contact/financial policy would obviously mean that the issue remains.

I keep coming back to figures, in my head.

For example, how many Denilsons/Bendtner/Diaby etc etc etc on £50,000 a week, with negligible transfer fees, would we need to get rid of to fund a £50m, £100,000 signing of say Torres or David Villa etc etc. ?

It's a question, and the answer is clearly complex.

This can be part of the campaign, and it's clearly an issue. It is, genuinely, disgraceful really that these players get paid such a fortune for such a poor contribution - but that's football-wide. I'd imagine Obertan or Bebe, or half of the West Ham squad, or David Bentley, are on similar money.

What exercises me, is the ticket prices and season ticket prices.

Do we need to argue for a model whereby we see a direct channelling of our cash into the football club's transfer and wage kitty?

To me, it's about accountability. But would the club argue that this exists already - that they are transparent as it is.

I think one of the biggest issues is going to be eliciting a response from the football club, actually engaging them in a dialogue, of any kind. As seen at Manchester United, communication between the FC/PLC and the fans is difficult to get going.

It's late at night, to think like this - but this kind of campaign, rather than a 'Sack The Board' or 'Wenger Out' protest, is definitely interesting, and it's end point, is certainly more worthwhile and long-term.

Don't know if now's the time to stick my head above the parapet, but if the founders/organisers of this 'movement' need anyone to do any of the donkey work / website stuff / literature, I'm more than happy to help out. In fact, I'd be keen to.

And I'm not 19, as my username suggests! So I'm not purely a Wengerite, for those that were worried!
