Long time ago i dident know who Arsenal is, i use to be a fan of Italian clubs but i newer fel what i fel for Arsenal, i even used to suport Manure, but when i watched the first game of Arsenal vs Manure i started supporting Arsenal because of the style of the football, not because they neat Manure. No mater if we win or loose we have the most atractive style of play, the invicible one.

Thanks Cus - I was at the first two of those, and in the Spurs end for the 5-0 hammering (couldn't get an away ticket). Pretty painful memories but always good to remember how bad we were.Cus Geezer wrote:From the days of being North London(ish)'s 3rd best side.

Strange thing is how many of those players were internationals (Woodcock, Rix, Sansom, Jennings, Anderson, O'Leary, Davis, Talbot, Nicholas, Robson etc etc). It wasn't like today, when the majority of those playing for the top ten sides are internationals. But we really were shit.
3rd best side in London? I reckon 4th best: we were lower down the pecking order than Spurs, QPR and Watford in those years (at least Chavski spent much of the 80s in Div 2).

Was at two of these, the **** away game was my luckiest miss ever
Good for us old fuckers to have a bit of perspective so we appreciate what's happening nowadays, would'nt have it any other way
On the other hand I still had some good times around this period, it aint all about prawn sandwiches and fine wines
sometimes you have to experience the shite to really appreciate the good stuff

i've been to vitually every home game since 77,and i can tell you we were an awful footballing side in the early eighties especially, and the crowds at highbury reflected that only 20 odd thousand for most games.
to be honest i still loved each and every game although they were shite, nothing compares to the matchday experiance.
btw our season tickets cost us around £40 for a whole seasons football, around half an average mans weekly wage packet, nowdays it costs around double an average mans weekly wage .how times change eh?
