As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The facts are he is past his best. He is and always was error prone. He has a bad decision making process. He is not match fit. He cost us the chav 05 CL quarter final. He (along with TH bottling it) cost us the 06 CL final.
The fact he is German and you are either in love with him or his son does not change any of the facts I have stated.
DB10 you obviously dislike Lehmann somewhat but I believe you continually blaming him for the CL final is completely off the mark and as for the Chavs CL game, I don't get that one either.
The fact is even with ten men we should have won easily only for that *word censored* Almunia who proceeded to shit himself in the last 10 minutes and let in two soft goals through his legs and at the near post.
Lehmann had a rush of blood and the decision itself was harsh. He can not be blamed for that final though in my opinion. You obviously spent lot going over there and feel like blaming him but the fact is it was one of a serious of incidents/players that cost us the game.
And lets not disregard the fact he basically got us to the final and kept a record number of clean sheets while saving that Riquelme penalty.
Lets not rewrite history here.
The fact you want Shea in over Lehmann points to your dislike of him tbh.

Have to agree with IG on this one.
Although the jury will be out on whether Jens can come in and do a better job than a rookie keeper, until we actually see him play. And unless Al gets injured I can't see either Jens or Shea being used.
Al has fucked up more than any keeper in the history of professional football, yet he is still at our club.
Compare that to Fergie's pursuit of a replacement for Schmeichal, Howard a very decent keeper was deemed not to be good enough.
And as for the Italian version of Al, fergie saw very quickly that the guy was shite, and got rid pronto.
As for the others the outcome was the same, Fergie knowing how important the goalkeeping position is, was never afraid to admit (if not directly) that he had got it wrong. And he continued until he landed quality in the shape of Van Der Saar.

Totally wrong. On nearly every count IG. I actually thought Jens was a good keeper. But not in the great (Jennings/Schmeichel/Seamo/Shilton) class because he was too error prone and to mostly unforced errors at that. I don't know why people on here get hysterical if someone calls it like they see it. I've nothing against him, I just think he was not as great as some people with time softened memories seem to.
I was at that final in 06 and we never looked comfortable with 10 men. The whores were always going to score and more so with Coco in nets and under pressure due to the 10 men. Lehmann made a stupid mistake flying out like that and getting sent off. There is no way to justify that. I spoke to a few UEFA qualified refs in the years afterwards and everyone of them said it was a deffo sending off.
Against the chavs he ran out a full 30 yards to try clear it from Gudjohnson (even though we had defenders back) and missed the fucker by a mile. Gudjohnson scored.
Let's not forget his stupid push on Keane in the 04 unbeaten run in either. Imagine we'd lost the unbeaten run at the scum's shithole over such a stupid petulant thing?
Do I hate him for the above? No. I just can accept he wasn't as good as some would have us believe.
My point regarding Shea is we know as much about his current ability/state of mind as we do about Jens at the moment. But we don't know if Shea is as (unforced) error prone yet. Jens has a proven track record of unforced errors. The same type of unforced errors you get so hysterical about when they are committed by Flappy or Coco...

Instead the ref killed a CL final.
Couple of the Refs I spoke to after said the law as it stood then dictated it was at the refs discretion and he could have awarded the goal AND sent Jens off aparently... but also he could have allowed the goal and booked/not booked Jens...
But I agree, the sending off more or less killed it as a game. With 11, and able to bring DB10 on late I feel we had enough to beat them. But the likes of Freddie were dead on their feet in the last 15 mins after playing with 10 from the 20th minute.

Well, that's true as well.
I think bookproject has missed the essential point. Lehmann hasn't played football for 8 months - and he's 41. Now, I guess that when you get to 41, the ease with which one can resume top flight football in one of the best leagues in the world , is open to question.
It doesn't really matter what he's done over the last 3 years. The fact that many people aren't screaming louder than they are, is because of the alternative (average al).
Perhaps bookproject, as he's not an Arsenal fan, hasn't seen as many Arsenal games that Lehmann has played as we have - so his while his area of expertise in knowing his Stuttgart form is greater, I would bet his area of experise in Lehmann's Arsenal experiences is not as great.
Lehmann did make a significant contribution to us being in the final, but somewhat negated that by his sending-off. Others, such as Flamini, made far more significant contributions during our entire campaign that season.
Why do we want to bring him into it? He's hardly going to make things better, is he?
You are of course right marc. But I'm enjoying watching DB10 get his ass handed to him over his language and debating skills by our German pal.
Handed to me??!!
Hlebby, you need to get off them drugs. Your usual level of posting any old stoned shite has gotten even worse!!
As Bad as Aluminum is I have to agree with those who think the Lehman idea is folly.
Quite apart from his frequent Almunia type Gaffs he is also incontinent and quite likely to be taking a slash behind the hoardings at critical moments.
Worse as the pressure mounts in a crucial game I'm very worried he might follow through and take a massive dump on our hallowed turf .
I might not like the waiter but at least he's house trained !

The Ref conceeded after the match that he had made a hasty decision, and given the chance again would have just booked Lehman, and lat the goal stand.
How about taping up Chesneys finger and give him few pain killers and throw him back out there - as is what happens in rugby, hurling, gaelic football etc
