As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

As you say you could look at it and say united have it easier as they play first but you could also say the pressure is on them as they have to get a result before knowing anyone else'...... Its a load of bollocks and doesnt give one team an advantage over another. This is the problem with the press and Wenger when he comes out with shit like this they all take the piss and mock him when he has something serious to say like Shawcross'/Taylor' assaults they treat it with the same disdain.
My advice would be this is modern day football Arsene like it or not, get on with it or get out of football
You might be right, but then again, I'm sure some sports psychologists would argue that there is a possible advantage/disadvantage in always leading or following your rival.
But regardless, I do think that's neither here nor there. As I said in my post above, the fixtures should be distributed in such a way that any advantage gained/lost from playing first is dilluted by mixing it up as much as possible to ensure as fair a run in as possible - and if that's not happening, then it's not been organised well enough and it's quite right that it's brought to light and made clear that it's not acceptable
sorry mate but im not into this sport psychology stuff. I think mentally tough people get on with whatever card they are dealt in sport or life in general. These types of statements from Wenger takes credence away from serious issues he raises
Fortunately, our lot are mentally strong Flash - we'll be ok

Plus pyschologically, our frail and weak players shouldnt be hearing this from the manager, instead he has given them an excuse.
Good point.
I have no problem with Wengers concerns, as I feel they're valid - but yes marc, it's probably not helpful to give the players (who are already in mental freefall) even more excuses. Unless, of course, behind the scenes, Arsenal are forging a siege mentality... but sadly, I don't believe that for a second!
So he yet again finds another excuse to avoid stating the fact that his squad are a bunch of pampered nearly men who will never hear a bad word from our great leader.
He isn't even trying at this point. He has no backbone at all, hell if he just grew a spine, admitted his experiment had failed, he was going to offload a bunch of players and invest I think we would be a bit happier.
As I recall, the double seasons of 98 and 02 were done after a couple of years where he bought a ton of players. By the time we went unbeaten there wasn't much to add when you have the likes of Henry, Pires, Campbell and Viera.

The thing that bugs me too is that you see any manager (including Wenger) interviewed about the run in they say we take each game, one at a time as they come etc etc etc bollocks........ Basically before last weekend we needed to win every game to win the league - one game at a time, dont worry about anyone else WIN YOUR GAMES as simple as that
Wenger has now gone beyond a joke, he really is a tired sad old man, pointing the finger at everyone and everything but himself and his lazy passionless players.
I don't think we will win another game this season.

Ha much you willing to stake?
Made a similar prediction last season on how many points we would take from our last 6 or 7 games, and had a similar reaction from the more positive members. Turned out I had over estimated our useless shower of shite.
Interviewer: So Arsene after today draw how does the title prospects look?
Arsene: Well err...Presonally a draw...SHIT look at that!!!
Interviewer: Eh? where?......Ermm Arsene? Where have you gone?
