The trick there is those clubs are run with league-mandated salary caps, not a self-imposed club wage structure.

In other words while they are run more like we were in the past when we we had a wage bill of 64 Million GBP but tow players on over 90 or 100K a week as opposed to now where oour wage bill is closer to 120K but our top earner would only have been a thrid higest earner before 2004.

HOWEVER the salary caps our fairly strict and rigid. That is to say that generally to sign a big player you must let a simlar wage earner go. The result is that unlesseveral top players go you cannot add other top players unless they are willing to take pay cuts.

It's why you will read of certain teams stars re-structuring contracts to make more money to add better players available in American sports, though they ususally don't do this until they have made some of the really big money.

But you can't just look at the performance of the American teams and say with certainty either way that is how Arsenal would be run or perform becayuse there are different rules in place here.

One clue look at the number of League winners in each American league compared to English Premiership because that is where you will see the drastic difference that suggests you can't just assume anything from that.

Remember four have won the Premier League since 1992, and six have finished second, and foru of them also won the League in that time so basically you have six teams finshing in the top two since 1992.

In the NFL you have 23 teams finishing in the top two in that time
In the NBA you have 18 teams finishing in the top two in that time
In the NHL you have 24 teams finishing in the top two in that time

Again 6 in the Premier League, against 23 in the NFL, 18 in the NBA, 24 in the NHL with well-established salary caps for all clubs in those leagues, so just counting the number fo trophies here is not as cut-and-dry as some think. We need to keep that in mind here.

We are doomed ,the debt leveraged apocalypse is upon us and i blame hillwood dein and fizeman in that sepcific order cos it is they that have led us here .

Curious as to where Kronke takeover means the return of Dein comes from. Always assumed the appointment of US soccer man Gazidis came from Kronke so would stay CEO
Dein was the one who wanted Kroenke in from the get go. This seemed to be as Dein saw that Arsenal needed a big investment in the team to sustain a challenge at the top of the league. The deal with Kroenke was the main factor in the board ousting Dein. Kroenke, being shrewd, moved away from Dein and went about forging relations with the Arsenal board.

Dein went with Usmanov as he wants someone to take over the club with him involved. If Kroenke were to purchase Arsenal, and he and Dein had good relations, Kroenke would surely look to someone like Dein to take over the everyday running of the club. It would suit Arsene Wenger.

Gazidas may well have been sugegsted by Kroenke, but only due to the fact that he knew he couldn't have Dein there
But that's my point, time has moved on. Do they have any contact now? Wouldnt the appointment of Gazidis & the involvement of Dein with Usmanov surely infer they no longer have a future? I'd like to see it happen but surely that ship has sailed.

Not sure how reliable but says Kroenke will ask DD to return + Kroenke reached agreement with Fiszman and Lady Nina over the sale of their shares.

1989 Do you not understand the Yank will borrow loads of cash to finance the takeover and thus we will be FCUK'd big time .

Yours mine, anyone's worst nightmare will come true in one fowl swoop. Foreign control and massive debt which will be paid to the service the debt.
ie no transfer money in the Kitty and 30 more years of scraping around the bottom of the barrel for bargains !

Its of no consequence or relevance whatsoever if Dein comes back or not if this goes down we are screwed .

His takeover means the end for the Arsenal as we know it,this is the day danny the shyster fizeman and the bitch have waited for ,to cash in at top dollar !

You may be right and I do think even Mr. Fiszman or her lawyer's feet neeed to be held to the fire on this as we deserve the truth ahead of time as to whether what you r=fear is actually going to happen.

By the same token relax justa bit for right now - nothing is a fait accomply unless Ruslan Usmanove cashes in as without his holding Even if he wanted to Stann Kroenke could not put any debt on the club's books as he must own at least 75% of the club. The most he could own without Mr. Usmanov's holdings is 71% and I doubt the the smal shareholders witll sell to him riight away at least so even if he buys Fiszman and Lady Nina's shares he stioll would only be at 62% now so it cannot happen any time soon unl;ess the Uzbek sells out too, and there are some suggesting he might make a counter offer for Lady Nina's shares.

You are right to be concerned worried and aware. But do not panic because our awareness is eesential now.

Why would a guy who obviously loves his sport, put a new purchase of his into so much debt that they become totally uncompetitive for years? It makes no sense for someone to buy a major power in European football and turn them into 'also-rans', that would be business suicide if nothing else so people shouldn't jump to conclusions about how shares may be bought or loans paid off. We're heavily in debt now and some of you still seem delighted in the direction we've been heading. All we can do is wait and see what happens and accept it, just like we have to accept the senile old duffer managing our club at the moment.
One good thing that Stan might bring, is his ticketing system, he put his own system in place for his other clubs so let's hope he tells Ticketmaster to stick it!

Quality post from another Gooner online brain surgeon.
Great news lads Koenke will improve the ticketing ..........priceless in fact !
Well isn't that a re assurance to us all to know that the man who Owns the Rams loves sport and will improve ticketing .
Just what we were all waiting for to sooth our furrowed brows !
Kinell ,I used to just think someone of you were not the full ticket, now I know for sure !
Teecee he wont put one cent of his own in he will leverage the debt which the club will then have to service ,aka doing a glazers or the scouse thing.
Wake up we are truly fcked !

This might have been a hysterically funny post except you really beieve your bullshit.

I agree that we don't know how the purchase of the club will proceed or be made - all the more reason we should pressure the club to know this. though.

Other wise you prove you have no credibiltiy at all once and for all

Look at your first questiion

"Why would a guy who obviously loves his sport, put a new purchase of his into so much debt that they become totally uncompetitive for years?"

That's exactly what one could ask about Arsene Wenger especially since the only financial stake he has is his pay check, and everything is else is his personal and professionsl reputation some thing Board members and club owners really don't have to worry a bit - especially not with blind-faithers like you at their clubs.

Then there is this gem

"All we can do is wait and see what happens and accept it, just like we have to accept the senile old duffer managing our club at the moment. "

How is this so pathetic? Let me count the ways.

First off it shows if our Board walked up to you and said we would like to light you on fire, not only wouldn't you dare refuse or question them you probably would let them use your lighter to do it.

Seriously You nwould never question our Board because i think your idea of loyalty forbids that kind of disloyal behavior no matter how disloyal the Board may be toward you. That's being a proper supporter after all accepting being abused over and over.

And even as its now clear that our Club's priority is cashing in and has been sometime and may have impacted our investment in the football team you still persist with the unproven and increasingly dubious attacks on the manager and tell yourself he just wouldn't spend the money the Biard eagerly tried to get him to spend. I told you don';'t give a shit about the truth before and now we know it. Protecting the Board is your sole concern, even if they make you look a fool and don;t care that they do.

See you a masochist - I mean proper football supporter - but the wole we just have to accept things. Read your posts - when have you accepted anything other than what you want to. Either you are too blindly loyal to satnd up for Arsenal - or just too lazy to do anything but bitch and moan consytantly.

See - I told you your post wasn't funny.

Then there is the cowardly notion

Well Mr. Fiszman and Lady Nina have offically cashed in. I hope the AST demands an answer on how the shares are being bought.

And if we are sold into a debt-leveraged takeover what does that say of all the talk about the Board being in it for the long term and only concerned about protecting Arsenal's best interests?

I think you are right certainly that the Board mis-led the supporters about what it was doing and why and possibly if not probably the impact of that on the club and team. I also worry you might be proven right ultimately about how bad this proves to be but I am going to say right now all Gooners should pressure the club the make clear that this is or is not a debt-leveraged takeover now.

Where is all this going to end???????????

Post by fieldyj »

I am not quite sure where this is going to end for our GREAT HISTORIC CLUB but to quote a line from the film London Boulevard - Mitchell was asked at the old mans funeral - "have you any last words", his reply
"YES - WERE ARE ALL FUCKED"

I hope not.

I think that the most important line among all that I have seen written is
"the offer will not be funded by debt finance secured against the Club

this is the key for us as a club to move forward.

I'm hoping that this will see more funds released to the running of the team and less to the improvement of the burger bars etc. Over recent years we have seen the game of football take second place to the business model. Hopefully we shall start to redress that balance soon.

I've got mixed feelings as a whole about the ownership status but say what you will about Manure and Chavski, their fans have had a much better time over the last 5 years than ours have!
