Time to defend

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We were told 5 years ago by AW that in a few years time his young team would be world beaters and here were are 5 years on with nothing to show for it.

But we've been playing in the CL since then and that is still like a trophy so technically we've won 6 trophies.

Don't wish to flog a dead horse, and apologies if this link is posted elsewhere, but I think that this:

pretty much sums it all up quite nicely.

But

With some luck we would have won the Champions League in 2006, the Carling in 2007, the Prem in 2008 and reached the double in 2009'
Last season was a blow out and this we still are second in title race....

Bit of luck things could have been different....

...and if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's arse everytime it leaps.

'Luck' wasn't why we lost the CL final, Carling Cup or anything else of worth we've gone for. A squad with too many weak players and poor strategies are.

That's more resillience than luck. It's not easy to score in injury time; United has a great sense of belief and confidence that pushes them forward. Of course you could argue they get far too MUCH injury time to work with, but that's a different story entirely.

sammy please explain why AW has failed to address the evident weaknesses in the squad that have existed for 5 years and given very avergae, not good enough, unproven players large contracts so we have the 2nd largest wage bill in the league?

I DO feel that the worm will turn and that AW will lead us to more trophies.....i havent a real justification on this....all i do know is that we havent had the breaks when needed and to be honest i reckon we are very close to serious domination.
