song - the reason diarra was allowed to leave

Post by burns718 »

pretty simple realy. do you the le boss saw something b4 song went away that mad him think he would be a better player for arsenal than diarra.

he did make the team of th tournament. at his 1st major international tournament.

id give him a go in the team next time the flaminal is injured, ahead of gilbet. but id also like to see diaby get a gd strecth of games in the middle, so we can make a proper judgment on him - i think he will be great but we need to see this

Diarra was allowed to leave because he didn't want to warm the bench and Wenger doesn't want unhappy players around. Nothing to do with Song.

You"re right Dicko

What has Song ever done in his Arsenal career?Played a couple of good games in the carling cup. Diarra was sold because he wanted first team football.

Song must NEVER be allowed to play centre midfield again, at least not for us. I think he just panics when he plays in the middle, which is why I don't think he can ever make it there. (That Fulham away game last season still haunts me...)

He's clearly able to play centre back, and he's worth keeping for that (and he's definitely much better at CB than Hoyte). But, while it's great he had such a good ACN, it's worth bearing in mind that even at CB, Song had some alarming moments playing for us earlier this year.

Yes, AW did see something in Song - at centre back! Nothing to do with Diarra.

Fulham away last year every player played shit on that pitch Song was made a scapegoat and was boo'd by a load of idiots a real way to boost a players confidence, I felt sorry for the lad that night

and upset by a load of our travelling support that day

It's a fair point, he was scapegoated, and his treatment that night probably explained his loan to Charlton. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he's not good enough to play in centre mid. And, to be fair to Wenger, this season AW has only spoken of Song's CB abilities.

There was a time that the Flamster was deemed to be 'not good' enough to play in CM and look what he has done this season!

Song will have gained so much experience from the AN Cup and whether he plays in the middle or at CB surely it's good all round for the team especially as Gilberto may be on his way in the summer?

Unlikely to be the reason Diarra was allowed to leave as most of the posts allude, AW has dropped Song down to CB, he and Diarra were not really competing for the same spot. Unless AW saw's all 5 foot nothing of Diarra filling in at CB and decided Song was by far the better option. :)

Flamini was always recognised as having qualities that would make him a good defensive midfielder - as he showed at left back. What Song doesn't show are any qualities that would make him a good central midfielder, in the creative or defensive areas, and surely at the level at which we are playing.

THERE IS ONLY ONE REASON - WENGER IS TOO MUCH OF A NICE GUY AND NOT RUTHLESS ENOUGH!!

HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD DIARRA HE WAS STAYING UNTIL AT LEAST THE SUMMER OR SENT HIM OUT ON LOAN INSTEAD.

AS FOR SONG, I STILL WORRY THAT HIS TOUCH IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH AND TOO HEAVY FOR A TOP CLASS MIDFIELDER. HE HAS MORE ROOM TO GET AWAY WITH IT AT CENTRE-HALF (LOOK AT PHIL) AS LONG AS HIS DEFENSIVE SKILLS ARE GOOD ENOUGH.

Agree with the Flamster always having the 'potential' to step up into the first team but there were plenty of gooners who didn't agree!
We need cover and competition for places for both CB and CM and I think thats where Song is at the moment....

And what qualities does Song have that would make him good cover for a Fabregas or Flamini?

I would have thought he hasn't, hence the reason that AW is now trying him out at Centre-Back.

DIARRA left because he wanted to leave to play more regular first team football.

He was always moaning.

Players like that do not belong at Arsenal, who have best training facilities, best stadium, best pitch and best manager in the league.

SONG is a decent centre back, would like to see him stay and work on improving that role. He is still young.

Never seen him have a good game in central midfield for Arsenal.
