Thierry Henry's NYRB side invited to 2011 Emirates Cup

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Looking forward to this personally. Will be interesting to see if the other teams are of their 'calibre'.

Having seen NYRB play live, they're about the equivalent of a lower championship/league 1 side. Very slow & ponderous, including Thierry sadly. I'd be embarassed if we don't put at least 5 past 'em.

Word was doing the round in Barcelona that they (Barca) are taking part too. So we won't be winning the EC this year

Actually quite pleased about this. Only so many times I can watch PSG and Valencia. At least this is something fresh and different, and the return of AFC's greatest ever player. I'm there!

If you took the MLS All-star team, i'd reckon there about as good as a relegation Prem side or a Championship side

We're meant to be doing pre season in Japan aren't we? Just a charity match I heard.

Not sure about Japan now after the earthquake, but I think a game in Malaysia against their national team is all but confirmed. Hope there's still a couple of interesting Eastern European aways pencilled in, love those offkey trips :barscarf:

Great, we should be able to win some fekin headers for a change

I can see a long ball tactic working well over there

Yeah I like the emirates cup, good to see teams from other cultures getting involved, and of course Thierry!
A pre-season trip to Asia can't be much worse than playing xlombathei or whoever we play currently
