Go back and look at the squad they had then, it was as good if not better than the others. Our 1st 11 has always been good but the next lot, not so good and the same could be said for United at the time...in 2005 CR was just a show pony.

Mourinho is good but sometimes he comes up against those that are better, Fergie soon worked himout and CR beacme less of a show pony, but till they started to get old, CSKA London always had a better squad once the bent russian opened his wallet.

Did you miss the 1-1 draw at the weekend.I Hate Hleb wrote:Probably right. However don't be surprised if they beat Barca in either the Cup Final or CL. Remember, if anyone can, Jose can!!![]()

Barca matched them and were easily better. Law of Sod says he will win one of the 4 games but just admit it that sometimes even Moaninho can be out thought and out-foxed.

As we were the Invincibles just a few months earlier I would say that most people would concede we were stronger than Chelsea at the time. Remember also that a lot of Chelsea's / Mourinho's new signings were still relatively unknown or unproven quality in the PL at the time, but subsequently went on prove they were indeed great players (Cech, Carvaliho and Drogba for starters)
(Edit: I know Cech signed for Chelsea before Mourinho was manager)

Moaninho is a total total *word censored* and I would hate the see the bastard managing The Arsenal
With him there is nothing more important than jose and his image and he would drag our club into the gutter big time if he was our manager. They played barca sat night, in the bernabau, and played most of the game with 11 men behind the ball and with pepe trying to kick the shit out of anything that moved
He even has a gifted footballer like xabi alonso resorting to kicking every barca player he could
I have this awful feeling though that they will beat barca in the cl thus ensuring manure win the fcuking thing again

Who says he can't, but I don't think it was about being out thought or out-foxed!!! Also it's a bit of an unfair comparison - especially based on this weekend's match. Barca has had the majority of that team together for 3 or 4 years whereas this is Mourinho's first season at Madrid and he's yet to get the team exactly how he would like it. The fact is that he managed to get a point when down to 10 men against the best team in the world. For someone that was supposedly out-foxed, it wasn't bad that, eh?topgoon wrote:Did you miss the 1-1 draw at the weekend.I Hate Hleb wrote:Probably right. So like him or not, and whether they do or don't beat Barca, doesn't the fact that we're even thinking it is possible tell you something about the guy's managerial and tactical skills?augie wrote:Moaninho is a total total c**t and I would hate the see the bastard managing The Arsenal![]()

When it comes down to it and you cut through all his chat and ego, the man knows how to win.
I'm not sure the same can be said of our squad and coach anymore.
Of course, he also tends to make himself bigger than the club he's at.
It'd be like trading one manager with an unshakeable, arrogant faith in their tactics for another.
Thing is I could see one of them winning trophies for the Arsenal again and the other, well, not...

The Invincibles were out thought by Ranieri's Chelsea at Highbury 2 months beore the end of the season. Chelsea had a squad as good if not better than ours in 2004/05 just needed motivation.I Hate Hleb wrote:As we were the Invincibles just a few months earlier I would say that most people would concede we were stronger than Chelsea at the time. Think how many games the Chavs took the lead against us before they lost it...not because they weren't as good. It was all mental.
Carvalho was already good as he'd just won the champs league anbd UEFA cup back to back, Drogba was already wanted around Europe as was Cech but our scouts rejected him.......but we got Almaniac

We were stronger in May 2004, the squad of the Chavs was stronger in August 2004 but they weren't that different in May 2004.
