Some of the comments on here are laughable. The lad made a mistake that most Keepers make. Fucking Jens did it in a CL final. It was his hesitation that cost him, the idea was right.

He was quality all evening. Top lad

completely agree. At first myself and gooners I was watching it with said 'Why do that, Lennons going nowhere' On the replay, it was clear he had no option but to try and close down and connect with the ball. If he stayed on his line Lennon was cutting in and would have just passed it in.

Had a great game bar that, saved with feet which woulda made it 4, vocal, stopped Bale twice, saved from Modric and van der fart, and a tipped header from crouch. Also won everything in the air from corners. Sometimes a punch is the best option, they have Crouch who is a freak so he just got rid which was fine. I'd keep him as number 1 next season for sure, & Flappy is an ok number 2 (look at the other teams before you laugh at this, even manure, chavs and barca, he's fine for backup). Address everywhere else PLEASE ARSENE!!!

It's not about that 1 mistake, more on how young he is and how he's inexperienced and prone to mistakes.
Getting a keeper like Stekelenberg or Buffon would be great to have for a few years while he matures.

I don't understand why you would criticise Szczesny except for the penalty. Apart from that he kept us in the game. He saved one with his trailing leg just after the goal, stopped a Crouch header at close range, and stopped Sandro's shot with his scrotum! He also flattened Bale, TWICE! He had, in my opinion, a great game except for the penalty!

Ideally, I think the best scenario would be to get someone like Given, with a couple of decent years left in him and loan Ches out to either a Premiership or Championship club so he could get some better experience. He looks a top quality prospect but does some bad decisions (lack of experience) and his distribution (kicking) is very poor at times. One year playing at a high level consistently should ready him for a return to us. He will be great.....but in a year or two?

How about we consider that the coaching is the problem. Is it really possible that all our keepers are so shit that they keep making the same mistakes over and over. Does anyone actually tell them where they are going wrong.

Same thing goes for the whole defensive side of the game, who actually teaches these idiots how to defend as a unit..

Bring in better coaches and teach them how to do their jobs properly..

Shez will improve but we need the finished article NOW, he was beaten on the near post last night, the Huddle(20)stone goal, was overrated, VDV had time to jump over the shot, I don't think it was that hard and then the pen, tie all this end with the two-fisted punching, when he should be catching the ball and it's time for him to be a number 2, Wenger buy a goalie with experience, dig deep in the coffers ya tight *word censored*.

Why? He's had a wealth of experience. How many mistakes has he actually made? The CC final wasn't really his fault, he was put off. Even so, 2 mistakes for a 20-21 year old Keeper is amazing considering the games he's played. Kicking he can work on, he's said this himself, plus every Keeper has some sort of weakness. Nobody is perfect.

Yes, if he has aspirations of being our number 1, he shouldn't be conceding goals of the ilk that he conceded last night, but I also include his distribution and handling in the overall picture, although, he did make one great save in the 2nd half.

Agreed. He made a huge mistake running out, trying to beat one of the fastest players on the scum team over that distance. Lennon was wide, Chez should have held his near post, waited for Lennon to cut in then closed the angle as our defenders came over to help. But he is young, he hopefully will learn from that. His punching was poor too, but again he can learn from these errors.

We need a top quality GK. Name one side that has won the league without a truly top keeper? Chezney is not that (yet) so he will have to just deal with being number 2 and learning a bit more for a couple more years.

Another trait that worries me about him, is when he blocks a shot, he knocks in straight back into play again, he has done this several times in the past and last night also, without any goal resulting from it.

thats it boys ches is todays target get your knives out,then we can move on to whoever f76ks up on saturday.lets be clear about this, the boys got it all but as a boy yeah he'll drop some bollocks but thats what its all about as a keeper .you should recognise talent when you see it,jacks been booked plenty and given the ball away plenty too but no one is saying send him back to bolton.just cos a player is older dont make him better ,you seem to have rosetinters on about jens and seaman think for a min about some of the world class clangers they dropped as expieriencd pro's not only in the league but finals also.ches should'nt have brought him down but what you should be cursing about is the lack of cover from either right back ,midfield or centre half.as for his catching ,you are all showing your age here,no keepers catch anymore unless its a gimme.from buffon to van d s,its the way they have been coached due to the balls now used.and by the way he is one of the best punchers in the game and invairiably makes 20yards.a last point why is saint cesc running through sand lately,he's like a sunday morning old timer beats the first man then starts to stumble his way on.theres a bloke thinking of sand castles on the beach in sunny spain my freinds.

One thing I would say is that if he's not our number 1 next season he needs to be out on loan to another Premiership club. There is nothing to be gained from him sitting on the bench most weeks, that won't make him a better keeper. And although with lesser players this wouldn't be a consideration I don't think he'd be as frustrated playing every week somewhere else as he would be stuck as our sub.

Some might see this as pandering to a player, but a player with his ability and potential needs some pandering or we're going to lose him permanently.
