Arsenal don’t need to put ticket prices up (14/2)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal don’t need to put ticket prices up (14/2)

usual thread starter… I hope the board do resist a price increase, as the rise in income from the fans would be insignificant to the club. Let’s face it, they made more from selling on Lassana Diarra. But what is interesting about this article is the idea that the average age of season ticket holders is going up and up. Older fans simply aren’t giving up their tickets. No wonder the club are reluctant to offer concessionary tickets anywhere but the family enclosure! So by 2023, will the average age of the crowd be pushing 60? We’ll all be grumpy old men! Any ideas on how the club can rectify this?

Cull's a great idea - we don't need a 39th game, we can just make a PL special of it and take the cull abroad. Should be a real specatcle.

Sounds a bit like Logan's Run...

Think Gooner.ed has got it nailed on, what is going to happen when all the oldies decide to retire, where is our new breed of support going to come from. I suggest that it will not be passionate young supporters who have come up through the ranks as they use too, but corporate 'tarquins' and JCL's. The Board's greed will come back to bite them in the future.

Seriously is there anything that can be done? Other than make an even bigger stadium and make it compulsory that only under 25's can buy the extra seats? It has to be the responsibilty of parents to make sure their children have red memberships and buy them tickets. I for one will be buying my children tickets when they are old enough.

The club could develop a "club 18-30" style area of the stadium

Then again, they'd only get up at 5 and miss the game anyway

I do not like the congestion charge, but seeing as it exists:

Let Peter Hill-Wood stand for Mayor of London in may.
All Gooners vote for him and he wins.

The congestion charge revenue is then diverted to Arsenal, and so much money is raised, that the ticket prices are reduced by 10% for the forseable future.

Simple.
