Cracking idea gromitt!
The actual contact e-mail for the club is [email protected]
Now I'm not suggesting that just because I sent it that anybody else should, or shouldn't.
It's up to you lot to decide

I don't want to have to send Don Punchio and Don Stabbio to pay you a visit.

Fair point donaldo but I think Cesc should be commended for making this statement. So often in the past when players have been linked with a move away from the club, we fans have asked that if there is no truth in the rumour then the player/club should say so, this is surely Cesc's way of doin exactly that.donaldo wrote:Henry signed a four year contract and left the following year.Contracts are not worth the paper they are written on.If the player wants to go he will.No club will keep a player against his will.

RILO II HAS IT RIGHT.
IT'S BASICALLY TO ALLOW THEM TO INCREASE HIS WAGES AS THE CURRENT RULES DON'T PERMIT THE CLUBS TO INCREASE THE THE ORIGINAL WAGES ONCE THE CONTRACT IS SIGNED. THEREFORE CLUBS WILL OFFER A PLAYER A NEW CONTRACT WITH AN EXTRA YEAR OR TWO AND THEN THAT ALLOWS THEM TO TEAR UP THE ORIGINAL ONE AND PUT IN AN INCREASE IN MONEY IN THE NEW ONE, STARTING WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

The wage increase bit is definitely a big part of it. I remember reading that Cesc had mentioned in an interview with the Spanish press last year that he wasn't "even the best paid player at Arsenal." I took that as being a pointed reference to him feeling that he deserved more money. And here we are, negotiating a new contract with a zillion years left on the current one.
Not that I begrudge him more money. They're all paid obscene amounts but Cesc is a lynchpin of the team, and money spent keeping him happy is money well spent.
