ARSENE WENGER

Post by goonermc »

When Arsene let's certain players go i believe in him as most other Gooners do, especially when these players end up plying there trade at footballing hotspots such as Birmingham and Reading.

Now, when these players start to ply there trade with Clubs in direct competition to us, surely questions have to be asked when Pennant's playing in a CL Final, when Bentley's being touted for a move to manure and Sidwell's joining the Chavs.

I'm not saying any of these players would walk into our first team but maybe they should have been given more of a chance in the first eleven whilst they were with us.

Wenger is a god and i hope he stays forever but maybe this is one part of his management he could take a closer look at.

Rumour has it that when Sidwell left, Wenger told him "I may buy you back some day" :?

How much more time did Cashley's boyfriend need. We signed him (for a record fee for a teenager) when he was 15. 7/8 years should be more than enough time to lock down a place in the team. Look at Cesc.he only needed 6 months. You can't keep young players in the squad not playing football when you are playing 17,18,19 year olds like Cesc, Djourou etc. They will feel they should be doing the same and get frustrated.

Sidwell will warm teh chelsea bench ala parker, probably end up at the toon where he should have gone on the free. see what people are saying, especially in the case of bently.

thats football though, players can do great things when you let them go, who is to say they would have developed teh same at arsenal, and if we still had them could be released in teh future and end up as league 1 players.

rumor has it cygan is a changed player out in spain, loved by teh fans and playing out of his skin (no jokes he is), would we consider wanting him back

I will back AW 100% in loosing cygan, and have to accept his correct decisions with teh questionabke

Cygan was Fremch player of the year the season before we signed him but the premiership is a whole lot different.

As much talented Bentley and Sidwell were, Arsene didnt feel he would have been able to give them playing time in the first 11 given the amount of talent he had in his hands. It would probably have been better for the club if they were kept, but not for them and trust Arsene to not let a talent go to waste.

As far as Jermaine Pennant goes, i dont care how well he plays towards the second half of the season or whether he plays in the Champion's League final, he just isnt good enough. I expect him to warm the benches next season with the scousers gunning for Daniel Alves.

Pennant was involved in every Liverpool move of the 1st half of the CL Final but often let himself down by the end product. He also shot straight at the keeper when clear. I'm pleased to see so many ex-gooners plying their trade in the Premiership, but would be hard pressed to think of even one who I'd like to see come back!

Pennant?? He didn't have time to play matches while he was at Arsenal as he was too busy crashing his car, getting sent home from England U21 tours and and assisting with Police enquiries!! So he played in the CL's final and had alot of the ball, but what did he do with it? Nothing. I haven't regretted Arsene's decision to let him go once.

As for Sidwell, I can only assume he hasn't read "The Scott Parker Story" or "The Life of Shaun Wright-Phillips". No doubt Maureenyo has bought him to cover in Feb/March when they lose a number of players to the African Nations. But when they have a full squad? He'll be picking splinters put of his arse. Is Sidwell any better than Cesc, Diaby, Gilberto or Denilson. I don't think he is. Bare in mind we also had Vieira and Edu in recent years so where would he ever have got a game?

As for Cygan, I've watched a couple of game on Sky and he has looked very good.............. because the slow tempo and time on the ball suits him. As for the pace and fast tempo of the Premierhsip, well I think we all know how he coped with that!!

Letting Edu go, now there was a mistake!! Even Arsene has said as much.

Pennant is one of the luckiest players around. He was on loan at Leeds they went down.He then went to Birmingham and they went down. Then unbelievably Liverpool payed £6m for him. He has been a bit part player and somehow has played in a CL final. If he had knuckled down at Arsenal he could have been a good player but has wasted the talent Wenger saw in him as a 16year old.Too much much hanging around with that greedy c**t Cashley me thinks.
