As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Unfortunately the product, in this case each seat sold, is relatively price inelastic, and he knows it.
yeah I agree to what you just said, whatever it is you just said. ha ha.
I think you said more seats will be empty so the rest of us have to chip in a bit more. Is that about right?
I'd love to see a merchandise and food boycott but in realisty there are too many day trippers that are more than happy to buy arsenal's overpriced frozen pizzas.

Nah whats hes saying is that in football if you increase the price of the product then the demand for it should remain the same.
Basically, 60,000 people will still turn up every week even with a 6.5% price rise. If the team were successful then he'd probably be right but in the current climate im not so sure..

I thought he was saying revenue would increase even if less seats were sold.
Obviously up to a certain point.
100 seats at a tenner a pop equals revunue of £1000
90 seats sold at twelve quid equals revenue of £1080

I think the majority of fans who do only manage to get to 5 or so games per season will still go, and daytrippers will still go. 6.5% is only a £2 increase on a single match day ticket so in reality i dont think £2 will deter the odd visit to the emirates from the fans who cant go all the time

That's what the Club want.... Day-trippers that are willingly fleeced on food, drink and merchandise. Season Ticket Holders are too shrewd for that, so the Club just price them out.

Seems more and more the way things are going, although i never understand why the press report that Arsenal are the most expensive club by a mile to watch, i think people forget to appreciate that our season ticket is for 26 matches and not the usual 19 thats almost every club i know of offer. I know people argue the fact that you shouldnt HAVE to have cup tickets but at an average of £40 a pop an extra 7 matches thats £280 to take off compared to other teams.
This season my ticket averaged at around £34 per game, next season it will average £36, even with the price hike in relation to the majority of away games that price is a fair price to pay considering the facilities and view we get at the Emirates, i mean for Fulham to charge £49, and even £47 for a restricted view, Stoke charging us £49. There are many many more clubs that do this
Is it coincidence that Silent Stan takes over and the ticket prices rise....?
Ok, so he may not formally be in control yet - but you can't tell me that he couldn't have vetoed the rise if he'd wanted to.
Sorry Stan, but I really think this might be the straw that breaks the camels back. Every season it seems to take longer for games to sell out. More and more empty seats at games (despite the attendance figures!).
Unless people can start seeing the money being properly invested in the team then I can see a lot of season tickets not being renewed and the prospect of the official attendance falling to the 50-55k mark versus the likes of Wigan next year!

Pretty much- what he is basically saying is that Arsenal, like every other PL club, could no longer care about fans, they arent a club that represents the people of the area in which they play (which was the whole idea of football clubs in the first place), they are a company, concerned only with maximising profit and are happy to play on peoples "loyalty" to what they consider a company to achieve it. If profit can increase by screwing long term working class fans out of the ground to be replaced by tourists and rich wankers, then its all good. It fucking stinks, the whole fucking league fucking stinks, wish every fucking PL club would go bust
* An extra 2,000 seats will be available for Red Members to buy at every home Premier League game. Red Level members currently only have access to 1,500 per home game
Where do these come from? Let me guess, from the *loyal* silver members who've supported the club for years?

Sure the food and merchandise is a rip-off but i dont know why you're taking such personal offence on behalf of the people who buy it? Nobody is forcing them to buy it or to keep buying it. Its not as if there is a dearth of places to buy food around the ground.
As for trying to price season ticket holders out...
Bar a few games per year there is not a massive army of red members chomping at the bit to snap up all these tickets.

Wozza, you never have a bad word to say about AFC. My suspicions are that you're a Board Mole, sent on a mission to convince us that everything is rosy in the Emirates Garden and that people are 'very silly' to moan and that 'you don't really want our sort writing negative stuff'
