season ticket pricing by IG

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think the food and drink 'boycott' suggestions are a non starter, as my understanding of the contract with Delaware North is that they pay AFC for the 'right' to provide the facilities, and then all sales made just go to Delaware North, and not the club, so this does not affect AFC in the short term.

Rather then looking at ticket pricing the club should be looking at its wage bill.

I know people argue the fact that you shouldnt HAVE to have cup tickets but at an average of £40 a pop an extra 7 matches thats £280 to take off compared to other teams.

This season my ticket averaged at around £34 per game, next season it will average £36, even with the price hike in relation to the majority of away games that price is a fair price to pay considering the facilities and view we get at the Emirates, i mean for Fulham to charge £49, and even £47 for a restricted view, Stoke charging us £49. There are many many more clubs that do this
You cannot compare the price that Fulham and Stoke are charging us to the average price that Arsenal are charging. Season tickets at Fulham and Stoke (and Barcelona!) are very cheap by comparison - and these clubs are merely taking advantage of us! Also, what Stoke normally do is a combined ticket for their own fans so although they may also be paying £49 against us, they might then get a lesser game included for £60.

As for whether £36 is a fair price..... Yes if you are only planning on going to relatively few games in a season. Like going to a concert or the theatre. But football thrives on those who go to every match, or at least to every home game. And if you do then it is a ridiculously high price to be paying! In fairness though, the price increase for next season has only added to a cost that was already ridiculous. When I was at school I used to go to a game most weeks and even for a kid surviving on the income from a paper round, the cost of getting into a game was never an issue. As someone pointed out, if the cost had kept in line with inflation then we would now be paying well under £10 for a ticket!

Nowadays I actually feel more than a little embarrassed when walking down to the ground after the drive down from leafy Buckinghamshire and seeing the local kids in their Arsenal shirts who couldn't hope to afford to get in to see what should be THEIR football team......

Lastly, I too have argued that the season ticket price is better value than it looks because it includes 26 games. Maybe a fair point. But it is an extra up front cost (a £1000 ticket would be reduced to £730 if cup games were removed!) and also forces people to go to games they might otherwise choose to miss. For a start, anyone with kids would probably want to avoid midweek matches - and most of the 7 cup games will inevitably be on a Tuesday/Wednesday evening.

Also, I have long argued that FA Cup games should be treated like the Carling Cup and not count as cup games on the ST. Imagine the scenario as well if we ended up in the Europa League (either finishing 5th or finishing 4th and losing in the CL qualifiers) and found that our cup games were Thursday night matches against a mix of Eastern European teams.... I'm fairly sure that Arsenal would not be planning on offering a refund!

When you log in and finally proceed to check out the payment method is default to 'card'. Change the drop down to "finance".

and you get the following:
By selecting Finance, you authorise Zebra Finance to automatically debit your Bank/Building Society annually with the then current charge. By completing this instruction you are confirming that you are the Account Holder of the specified UK Bank/Building Society Account and that you are the only person required to authorise debits from this account.

Please validate your Direct Debit details to produce your Instruction to your Bank or Building Society. You must confirm that these details are correct before proceeding with your transaction.
