Let's look at the positives

Post by Red Gunner »

We are top of the league and would Man Utd rather win today against us or against Man City on weekend

We have loads of players to come back: Sagna, Clichy, Flamini and Adebayor for the AC Milan match. Hleb and Fabregas too as they didn't seem to turn up today

FA Cup would add extra games to our schedule and could hamper our Premiership campaign. There are only 12 games to go plus the Champions League ones, so a few more games could mean a lot to the fatigue

Eboue is suspended for our next three Premiership games

Match-wise they weren't, it was all negatives but long-term wise, us getting knocked out isn't that bad.

Although I agree that we could do without these extra games at this stage of the season, we have to remember we are facing the defending champions in the next stage of the champions league. A match we could lose. Then the pressure will increase on the players in the league.

Before the game i thought yeh i can handle a defeat but i cant not with that performance any way. The only positive we can take is eboues suspension.

Hard to be positive after that, but for the older members amongst you, are you noticing any parallels with the 90/91 season. Only three defeats all season - an embarrassing thumping in the League Cup (6-2 at home to Man United), a beating in the FA Cup when we just didn't show up (3-1 vs Spurs in semi-final) and a 2-1 reverse at Chelsea, when if memory serves me rightly we got our consolation in the last minute.

We finished that season as league champions. Let's hope it's a good omen.

Fuck the positives. So soon after the **** result we get fed this. I don't expect us to win every single game but this was utter shit.

We should have put 100% into this, regardless of what trophy we are playing for. Losing 4-0 to them lot is probably the most sickening thing I can think of.

And anybody who says it's only the FA cup, that's not the fucking point.

What a bunch of spineless puffs. They had better make this loss worthwhile.

I don't think we can really assess how this has affected us until this time next week. If we now go on to lose against Milan and drop points at brum, I think we can look back at this as the game our season started to crumble. If we get a couple of wins, I don't think anyone will be too bothered about this result. We all thought the spurs defeat would derail us, but we came back with some good wins, I think we underestimate the mental strength of the team. It was a very bad night, nobody played well, but hey, it happens every now and again. Last week everyone was saying we'd won the league and united were terrible. You can't judge the team on one game, and although it's no excuse for that performance, we were missing several key players. I say we forget this game as quickly as possible and focus everything on getting the necessary results in the next 2 games.

well the last time we played utd in the fa cup, we won and went on to lift the fa cup but did not win the league, that has happened in both 2005 and 2003.
maybe that is a sign of good things to come in say late april or early may.
