They are certainly making a great case for themselves to be allowed to play in the English Premier League, if they had little chance before, then they have even less now, which is one positive to come out of their recent confrontations.
I was listening to a Scottish police chief on 5 live following the big riot at one of their recent games, he said their had been over 200 stabbings in the 12 hours following, which could be directly linked to the game.

Mate I like most of your posts on this forum but that post is bullshit and lobsided in its views. I have said in the past and will continue to say that religion and politics has no place in sport and I totally oppose any IRA chanting at any match however lets look at the other side as well -

1. Who is the only old firm club to be fined and be ordered to play games without their own fans as a result of sectarian chanting ?

2. Who is the old firm that classes itself as 100% british yet wreaks havoc everytime they venture down onto english soil ?

3. Who was the only old firm club that up until the late 1980's refused to sign any catholic player ? Yes this club was ready and willing to discriminate against their own fellow scotsmen on the basis of what god they prayed to so this dispute of theirs isnt confined to Ireland/Irish For the life of me I could never understand how the scottish fa, the british goverment, uefa and fifa could turn a blind eye to this bullshit discriminating and sectarian policy for decades when it wasnt even being hid away Down through the years celtic have had a whole host of protestants play for them without any backlash (daglish and danny mc grain are 2 I can think of from top of my head) so as a club I dont think you can label celtic as bigoted.

That being said, and I made this point earlier, both clubs have done nowhere near enough to stamp out this bullshit behaviour from their own fans. IRA chants, anti catholic chants or whatever should be stamped out without hesitation and the fans responsible should be punished in the most severe way possible and that applies to both sets of fans.

I'd say the exact opposite. When Celtic are in London, their fans are just up for a piss up, mingling with other football fans and - as far as I can tell - harmless. Met a bunch of Rangers fans in a pub - sectarian cocksuckers, covered in tattoos depicting battles, claiming to be Chelsea headhunters, looking for a fight (just because we liked football and didn't all support Chelsea and or Rangers).

Saying that, the Premier League doesn't need either of them teams - and even if they joined, I guarantee both would be relegated within 5 years.

Nothing justifies attacking him, or any of the threats of violence towards him, and the sad point is it proves that sectarianism in scotland isnt just a rangers/celtic thing, but a nation wide problem.

I'm definitely not ignoring the shit that the Rangers fans come out with, I've said that both are a set of *word censored*, and I have said that this stuff with bombs and bullets being sent to Lennon is absolutely out of order- shit like that has no place in football or in society in general. My problem is that it is always rangers who are highlighted when the problems with celtic (pro-IRA chanting, abuse of British soldiers etc) are largely swept under the carpet. Celtic fans (and living in Scotland i know a lot of them, and a lot of Rangers) seem to think they are somehow the "good guys" in the rivalry- a set of angels who go to Seville and dance with rabbits etc when, in reality, they are just as bad as each other.

With regards to joining the English league though, regardless of both being a set of *word censored* (which they are), my point is that letting a club that considers itself British join the Prem would be a lot less offensive to me (and many others) than letting in a team that hates Britain and sings songs about a terrorist organisation that blows up innocent British civilians. Rangers fans can be arseholes, and they would need to tightly control them if they were in the prem, but people simply would never accept Celtic joining, they'd get kicked to fuck every ground they go to, especially if they were to start their IRA shite.

Anyway, the main thing is that there is a very scummy element amongst both clubs, and I'm not ignoring the Rangers fans- ideally they wouldnt be allowed in the prem either, cant be arsed with the sectarian shit on either side. What part is incorrect? It is an offence under British law to support a terrorist organisation

It goes on to state:

And then schedule 2 gives a list of the "proscribed organisations", and guess which one is the very top of the list? Yep, you guessed it "The Irish Republican Army."

I would say that chanting about them is inviting support, which is an offence.
