PLAY IN THE LEAGUE CUP AGAIN OR NEVER AGAIN
PLAY IN THE LEAGUE CUP AGAIN OR NEVER AGAIN
last nights game made me think that is it ok to play your 2nd team/ kids in the league cup were you can get beaten by middlesbro, wigan, chelsea, and spurs and have their fans act like they just won the champions league & premiership in one game and bring out a dvd t shirts etc ( as spurs will do ) and read over the top press on an arsenal defeat every year or just dont bother playing in it anymore it doesnt seem to worth it to me and I wouldnt miss it at all

Hatchy - you know and I know that the Carling Cup is fourth in priority.
Everyone knows that we have deliberately played a weakened side in every tie for the last ten years.
The press are full of it today because exaggeration is what the tabloid press is all about - be it football, politics or celebs in general. To the tabloids there are two modes of thinking - really great and really bad - give us a punchline. The whole middle ground doesn't exist - no grey just black and white.
And you have to remember that football fans are a broad church - within that church empty headed nob heads who regurgitate what is written in the papers - on whatever subject.
I've said it elsewhere - this result means nothing regarding the price of fish.

We should be proud that our second string got to the semi's three times in a row. Ok they are expensively gathered (though Walcott and Dudu tends to inflate it considerably) and the side against Spurs contained Gallas, Sagna, Cesc, Hleb, Gilberto which for me felt a little bit of a betrayal towards our younger ones.
Sure, it is depressing when we lose but I wouldn't swap the nights like the Doncaster game a few seasons back or the proudness of seeing Randall set up a goal against Blackburn. When Arsene first did this, it was seen as taking the mic out of the cup but now it is seen as a saving grace as people like to see entertaining sides but also most of us do have a secret love of spotting talent and Arsenal's second string is a great opportunity. Who will make it here?
