'The Poznan'

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Post by SWLGooner »

Everyones doing it... First Citeh, Wolves, Celtic, Swansea... Looks a bit shit now it's not unique IMO! Glad we don't as you need everyone or it looks *****, and we'd never get everyone doing it at the Grave!

Looks cringeworthy as fuck. I want to see good English atmospheres come back, not choreographed attention seeking shite from Poland

If I've paid £96 for a ticket at the Degenerates, I'll probably be watching the game for the most-part.

Is this the one where they jump up and down facing away from the pitch?

To be fair I thought it was alright when it was first started by whoever brought it to England (man citeh? not sure) But now it has become like the 'just can't get enough' song, most people do it, so its just become a bit shit.

I'd take a normal proper English atmosphere over jumping up and down pretending to be original any day.

if it gets people singing the same song at the same time at a decent tempo i'm all for it to be honest. 'the poznan' can do one though, it's all about pyro:

Watched it during the FA cup final, I didnt find it cringeworthy at all :o , actually thought its probably fun to do, and certainly no one is claiming its orignal, after all its named after a team.

Given the atomsphere at the Emirates, we have no right to make fun of anything related to atomsphere.

I'm a fan of European atmospheres to be honest, don't tell me you'd be against The Grove rocking like this...

But "the Poznan" is gay as fuck. When done properly it's an impressive visual spectacle, the thing is that City & pretty much every other English club that try's it fail spectacularly as the crowd is half full of old people who have no interest/no ability to participate, so it just looks a bit like a bunch of mongs jumping about. And the chant is fucking cringeworthy, "let's all do The Poznan" :? :?

I laughed particularly hard at the UK media coverage of it too... "There's that curious dance those kooky Poles taught to the city fans", as if City are now some kind of pioneers with their revolutionary dance sweeping across England. Pretty much sums up the sheltered outlook of British fans & media when Grecques, as they're properly known, have been going on for decades.

Ok that is quality. Imagine if that happened at the grove, the club shit themselves at the thought of a flag without a fire certificate, they'd have a heart attack if that happened

Imagine all the tourists and women with their kids doing that at the Grove whilst holding on to their sandwiches and camera's/cell phones.

Still, as much as I too would like to see it it's just not part of the British culture mate and therefore we probably won't ever see it on our shores.

'The Poznan' is a bit of an exception and looks fucking shite anyway. I actually cringe when I see the Citeh fans doing it.

Very very much in favour of this actually - why should this be viewed as any more cringeworthy than a singing section for example ? We have an absolutely shit atmosphere at the grove and I am all for trying this to get it going. I know other grounds are fcuk all better than ours but I dont give a fcuk about their grounds and I am not so precious that I would feel embarassed by the megaphone concept. There are many Gooners who all want to join in with the singing and find it hard to do so cos they are too far away and are behind in the chants or they are surrounded by mongs who give them the weird looks we they try to join in  Get these gobshites into the chanting, let them learn the words and try to unite the whole ground as opposed to just 1 section.......lets face it we need the help :(
