totally agree with this point - Parker would offer us some steel, leadership and desire that has been lacking for years now.NBN wrote:All this 'not good enough for Arsenal' stuff is bollocks. We have a squad full of technically good players and look where it is getting us.
We need to buy players for there attitude, work rate, experience and bottle to put around the more technically gifted players and Scott Parker would be perfect.
Was Ray Parlour what you would consider Arsenal quality, probably not, but I would love him in the side now. We need winners.
West Ham rejects
Anything worth a look from the other clubs that could go down?
Wigan - Diame (linked with him before he joined Wigan), N'Zogbia (always seems to be looking for the next transfer), Rodallega (no way near lethal enough)
Blackpool - Adam (too slow & just wouldn't fit in our team)
Birmingham - Johnson (alternative to Cahill or Hangelaand?), Ben Foster (have to admit that I rate him quite highly)
Blackburn - Samba (think he would be a great fit), P Jones (very promising player but maybe we need someone more for now)

He was a boyhood sp*rs fan thats probably the pull plus the fact Wenger doesnt want himno. 1 is Perry Groves.... wrote:parker would not be a bad signing but he's off to spurs so i am led to believe.
its a shame when a club like sp#rs, despite having a smaller ground and lower ticker prices seem to have muscle in the trasnfer market than us.
shows you exactly where arsenal's priorities are
Before he got seriously injured Collison was looking a really promising player in midfield - good on the ball but a battler too, getting up and down the pitch. Worth keeping an eye on him I think
Never have been a Parker fan and don't think I ever will be. I won't be disappointed if we sign him as we only have the Snail in that position but personally I think we should be doing better (FFS - 3 years ago we had Flamini, Diarra and Gilberto that could all play that role)
Upson - never had it and Green is a liability.
Thought Demba Ba looked half decent but given his supposed antics last night and when he quit his German club I would be inclined to steer clear too.

You beat me to it. I was just thinking that there must be a decent song in there.....Bahhhhhhhh! Probably best not to sing it against Cardiff or Swansea though......they might get randy!paperclip wrote:But surely him having such a fun name to say should be taken into consideration!SteveO 35 wrote: Thought Demba Ba looked half decent but given his supposed antics last night and when he quit his German club I would be inclined to steer clear too.
As for Parker..... I think he would have been great for us over the last 2 seasons. Now though.....? At age 30 he is past his peak, and has also been a little injury prone this season for my liking....
I don't hold with the "he used to be a spuds fan as a kid". It would be nice to think that meant something, but it doesn't. Look around and you rarely see a professional player playing for their boyhood club. If he signs for spuds it will be from the head, not the heart....

I can't understand the pundits who've been saying that Wham's squad are too good to go down. IMO they're dross. If Parker's not too expensive I take him. For a couple of years he'd provide the balls and backbone we need. However, given AW's view on contracts for the over-30s seems unlikely.
The rest deserve to play in the Championship.

I'd prefer it if we were looking at players better and younger than Parker..but chances are we will be looking at no one...So with that in mind he would definitely be an improvement on what we have and the type of player we need, would definitely help change the attitude and mentality in the team for the better, which we need desperately...
