SHOW YOUR DISPLEASURE AT FULHAM

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sensible spending and offloading the immense amount of overpaid deadwood is what I am after, not big/expensive signings.

We must us this game to express our utter disgust as to how things have been managed this year (and probably the past 3).

If we retain the likes of SONG, ARSEY, CLICHY, DENILSON, BARRY, VELA,ROSICKY ! can gaurantee you we will finish mid table next year.

Seeding for next year's competition is explained here http://www.uefa.com/news/newsid=1627566.html We'll likely face one of Benfica, Rubin Kazan, Dynamo Kiev, Panathinaikos or Twente...

All dangerous, but not as bad as I first feared.

I love the "Buy buy or Bye bye"

Would love to see one with "NO - Mental Strength"

or

"6% for 4th Place"

that's exactly the type of sign we don't need.

buying won't solve everything. bring in lucio and vidic and keep on not training set pieces and we'll still have the same problems. we need to sort the problems inside the club as bad sign as new players, i'd say even a lot more.

you see, realists who say we need to spend heavily all the time and that's all are the exactly like wengerists who say wenger is perfect and nothing is wrong - both stain the image that the supporters who actually have a brain are trying to pass to the club.

we need major changes, but signings are only a part of it.
Honestly, I am with you. I want him gone too - and the sooner the better.
to be honest mate, i don't want him gone. and if he goes, i won't be crying as well. i sincerely don't care.

i just want us to learn how to defend properly and act like real man on the pitch. be that with wenger or whoever else.

i'd like it to be with him as he is one of my heroes for the happiness he brought me, but if he keeps showing that he knows shit about tactics and that he rates denilson, well then he can just fuck off.
Thing is mate, the 2 players you have mentioned are champions. They also have a shit load of experience, so I'm pretty sure they would be able to defend.

spot on BG. I think "Buy Buy or Bye Bye" sends the wrong message . It sounds like all we want is investment in the team when the problems run A LOT deeper . The 6% for 4th place idea would send a powerful message and I think a lot of neutrals would agree with us.

And honestly I'm not worried about CL qualification , I remember back in '06 we got Dinamo Zagreb and a lot of people were worried . We beat them 5-1 on aggregate.

i respectfully disagree, mate.

i think that if you have a top class back 5 that does not communicate or get enough set pieces training, they will let lots of goals in.

defending is about organization, training (repetition), communication and other factors that depend on unity, on how the defenders 'gel' together. i think our famous back 5 was that good because they trained hard, had a manager who knew about defending (and trained them to do so) and worked as one. of course they were very talented as well, but talent alone does not a whole defence makes

at least that's what i think. don't forget that eboué, senderos, touré and flamini was the best defence in the history of the champions league when we were runners up. do you consider that to be made of top top class defenders? i don't. but they worked like one.

we need our whole team (not only defence) to learn how to defend properly and work hard on that. i would love if we could solve all our problems by simply buying the right players, but our problems go deeper than that. we need a change of mentality.

Possibly

- MENTAL STRENGTH???????

Will do the trick simply.

The other thing I am really worried about is our lack of a defensive coach.

We often bring in young defenders who appear to have great promise and over a period of years their form declines .

I am sure that this is not down to the player more to the lack of defensive coaching.

Cases include Clichy (from very promising to an accident waiting to happen at any late stage in the game), Eboue (who started quite promising and has lost it all) and there are signs that the same thing may be about to happen to Djouru (I hope not).

There is no guidance for these guys. We can't just concentrate on attack in training when in a match situation when we get in front we decide to try and defend it!!! This exposes all our weaknesses.
