i smoke regularly, and by the start of this year i did quit for a short while, and it was easy to see i could run 30% more on football matches. smoking makes a lot more difference to your fitness than casual drinking imo.

i think it's completely unnaceptable that a professional footballer with wages like koscielny's smokes cigarettes. it is scientific - it WILL make you lose your breath before you normally would. it's disgraceful if a guy on wages like his won't at least bother about it.

If he smokes something like 2-3 cigarettes per week I don't think it will change anything on his physical abilities. He's been quite impressive physically this season, so I'm not worried.
If Arshavin was smoking and drinking and eating burger king every days, I wouldn't be surprised though. When he runs on the pitch I think I'm quicker than him when I walk. :shock:

Am a smoker myself (no professional footballer though). I see nothing wrong with that, was just a tad surprised.
