WE'LL SPEND IF WE HAVE TO - WENGER

Post by CPHANMER »

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists the club can afford to make a big-money purchase in the summer - if he finds the right man.

"I like English players. They are good, but I have said the inflation for them is always very high"
Why buy Jeffers/Walcott then Arsene?

"It is always a lot of money, but if we have to spend we will do it, if we are really convinced"
But you aren’t convinced because you said the squad is good enough for next year without the need to strengthen too much. So basically you’re coming out and saying this now like you do every May to get our hopes up that 4 £20m signings will be arriving but you have no intention of that happening at all

Wenger added: "We have lists - number one, two, three - and we will try to achieve them."
And I bet all of them play for Lorient, Lille, Metz and PSG

"Unfortunately it does not always go like planned. It is very difficult to make things happen".
Everyone else seem to make it happen. It’s called getting off your f$ckin arse and make it happen

"We will work on strengthening the team. We are definitely out on the market - that is for sure."
yeah Romford market looking for overaged bargains

"I will spend what is needed to spend,"
Once again you stated we don't need to spend that much so that means you won't

"It is very difficult to go out and say 'we have so much money', because then people wait for you.

Well everyone knows Man Utd and Chelsea have money but they still managed to get Hernandez, Vidic, Luiz, Ivanovic fairly cheap

“Our costs always go up - our wages go up, we renew contracts of the players, they know the prices which are available on the market, so the prices go up every year."

No Arsene this is because Arsenal players play well in 4 games and you suddenly renew them with a new contract. We all know the real reason is because you know they will not be at the club in 2 years time so you tie them down with a better contract meaning you get a higher transfer fee when they move on

"Overall I feel the season is decided by some key moments that happened a few weeks ago [in the Carling Cup final defeat to Birmingham]."
So does that mean in the last 3 months we have not shown any mental strength, resilience and desire which you say we have in abundance..

So overall Arsene you are like we all know….. One lying f4cker that mugs everyone of us off. You are a joke of a manager…. Please leave

Maybe Arsene will suprise us all and splash the cash on Gary Cahill, Ryan Shawcross, Scott Parker and Andy Carroll?

Shawcross? Never in hell. Parker, Cahill? Fuck yes. Those two to add the British grit we've been lacking since leaving Highbury, as well as a proper striker, Benzema? Buffon for a few years to make Szczesny more hungry and therefore improve his game i.e his goal kick distribution, he's a confident and ambitious character, people like that are more likely to improve to get what they want.

We can all dream of those four coming eh?

With our manager and his recent bizarre ways, you could regret saying that!

'If he finds the right man'

"If I am convinced"

Says it all really. These are his ready made excuses for when he does bugger all and brings in some shit one-legged old pensioner from France's eight division. As always, he's going to say that the team and squad are strong enough and there weren't any players that he felt could bring anything new.

Wise up everyone - this is the same bullshit he comes out with every transfer window.

We'll all turn up in August and I'll bet my left bollock that we will not see a top quality new signing - one that got us really excited like when Campbell, Platt, Overmars or Bergkamp arrived. And don't forget that we will almost certainly lose 2 top quality players when Nasri and Fabregas move on to a Club that wants to win silverware.

Before the end of July Wenger will be coming out with

"there's no-one available at the right price"

"our squad has the right balance"

"we have to respect our traditions"
(which means I've lost the plot yet again) :banghead: :banghead:

Concerning that, I think our a part of our tradition was spending some fucking money on proven quality. AW and the way some people treat him like he's a messiah, he takes that on board and does fucking stuff like throw the captaincy about to any fucker, Almunia however many times, Squillaci in one of his first few games, might as well give it to Denilson before he fucks off just to rub it in.

Added to the fact he more or less gets to choose his successor, takes the heart and soul out of our team and replaces it with uncaring, gutless, spineless nancy-boys that are just happy to pick up their wage packet. :banghead:

We have to stop addressing this as if it's merely coincidental to the changes in the club's makeup and ownership which have occurred since 2006 and most impoortantly we have to stop pretending it's coincidental to the profits made by indiviuals still running the club to some extent since then, and clearly running the club since 2006 till this year.

Remember this - Arsene Wenger did not advise the Board not to sell Highbury a Board member did. Arsene Wenger did not voite to not top sell Highbury - the other Board members did. And they alone benefitted from that decision at this point.

As noted in a closed thread - why do you think Arsene Wenger is paid 6 million pounds a year? To cover all of this. He keeps the Board isolated and protected from any challange or criticism of their actions or policies. He is the Board's and now Stan Kroenke's firewall. As long as the heat is on them they don't have to explain defend or justify anything they have done or chosen not to do. That is why no matter what bar dropping from the top four altogether (and maybe not then even), he will be the manager until atb least 2014.

As long as we delude ourselves that a new manager will just spend all this money he has refused to spend and re-do the wage structure so we can pay our best players what they ought ot be paid, and llet the Board quietly promote their self0-interests nothing will change one bit. That's pprecisely how we have reached this postion we now find ourselves in.

We have to confront the Club and the Board and the owners on this as it appears that we may well see soon enough that they will not change unless forced to by fear of either losing money or losing face publically for how they made the money they did.
