PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Isn't it a bit risky to book non-refundable travel so soon after the season has ended....???

I would have thought that finishing 4th changes things and that the knock on effect would take some time to filter through to the fixture list.....

I've done it the last few seasons & haven't been burned so far. Information regarding dates & times tends to filter through from the opposition clubs as opposed to from Arsenal & the implications of fourth place don't really tend to affect fixtures being played at the end of July.

Special Envoy Mutley is going over there early doors to check out the local 'hospitality'.

AGHH, that well known U.S. Major league team, like playing AC Milan of Italy!!!!

Waste of bloody time and money these matches.

Also allegedly opening the new Buriram Stadium in Thailand with a game against Leicester City on July 16th.

Don't know how definite this is though. No 'official' word yet from LCFC.

Yeah i remember reading that a while back, done some further research on it though and apparently it is unlikely it will happen. The Buriram president seems like a bit of a mad man and i can't really see us travelling to a small village in Northern Thailand during the monsoon season.

On my previous visit to Cologne (en-route to Stuttgart for our friendly there incidentally) a few years ago i flew to Amsterdam and then got the train, the one way price for that sector was very good, might be worth trying that out.

I'll be in Kuala Lumpur when we are rumoured to be there so i should hopefully catch that one and Benfica as well if i can get it reasonable, still struggling though with a decent price.

Yes, I've been in touch with a Leicester fan I know and he also thinks it's unlikely. Buriram in the monsoon would be lovely though. Been in Asia during the monsoon before, and it's not as bad as it sounds. I really liked it, lovely and green.

Rail travel in Germany is not that cheap though. Went to the VfB game by car, as I live in Switzerland, and it's probably worth it to take a car from Harwich to Hoek, then down to Köln, if you can get a few mates to pay petrol.

I haven't seen anything related to anything friendlywise. Anyone got a link even to a Koln rumour? Would be mental to book a trip not even knowing when it was due to be played. The other great thing about playing them would be to see Podolski who is class. Plus their chant "Lu Lu Lu Lucasz Podolski" is very catchy.

For those who are interested, there's no mention of a game against us on the Koln pre-season schedule;

Hold off on booking travel just for the minute :lol:

FC Cologne has now been confirmed on .com and FC Koln websites. Sat 23rd July. No mention of a KO time but I'm guessing evening.

Just booked flights :barscarf: £100 return. Looks like the prices are already rising.
