You don't need players of British nationality to get that necessarily, but the French players we've had of late definitely don't do the stereotypes any favors. Where's another Vieira when you need him?

One thing I can't stand is the apparent lack of communication in the team. Bunch of shy, soft voiced little pansies. When Lehmann was in net this season, on the set pieces you could clearly hear him sorting things out. Need more players of that mould, especially at CB and DMF.
I think this post sums up what I failed to say

No team in England has won a league title without an English CB, I wonder why!
Probably because foreigners in the English league have only been commonplace for what? 10 years at a push?

Not saying we couldnt do with some signings with experience in the premier league but the "No club has won a title without an english CB" stat just feels rather weak.
You're right mate but I'd still love an English CB, the spirit and charactar as well as communication they provide can be priceless.

I think the level of vitriol directed at Wenger is just wrong. Sure, we've had a tough five or six years, but its harldy as though we keep finishing mid table. This manager has taken us to three titles, a bunch of fa cups and a champions league final. This guy gave us Henry, Pires, Vieira, Anelka, Overmars, Fabregas - all Arsenal legends (well not Anelka!) and all bought for a relative pittance. If the guy says he needs more time to get the club back on track, I think he deserves one more season at the minimum.

I wonder how the German, Brazilian, Italian national teams, and the likes of Barcelona and Madrid have managed for so long without any big british centre backs with the British fighting spirit?

Take a look at what you list as his achievements. Now look at when they were. It's all 5 years and more in the past. He has failed to strengthen repeatedly over the last 5 years. His "style" of play has been sussed out but he fails to develop an alternative. He is still saying that he fundamentally doesn't see anything wrong and might not strengthen again this summer.

He has had his time.

But none of them play in the English Premier League so it's a vacuous argument!!

If you haven't already done so, have a read of this. Makes very interesting reading and then come back and tell us again what you think

NO! its fine to have romantic notions we can bring back the passion of the likes of adams, wright ect but to think you will find that passion due to them being Londoners or english is slightly silly. As that shit cashly showed even being a arsenal fan (forget just being british) did not stop him being a diving, cheating judas *word censored* with the morals and standards of a hungry fox. I would rather none of our lot played for England, when you look at the sort of people he plays along side and stays with when out for England I am shocked theo has not got a 13 year old pregnant and puched a granny!

I dont give a shit if they are english, irish or what. I want 3 things
1. passion
2. loyalty
3. skill

The first two are tough and cant be bought and I dont think in todays climate we can assume that being british could be an atribute towards that. The third however can be bought. We need GOOD players but we should not pay over the odd because they are english. We have money and Wenger better fucking spend some but I dont want to see us spend 35 million on the like of Carroll.

We have some serious problems as a club that need to be addressed very quickly and football in general does too and the problem is not the birth place of players. Like the banner said 'kick greed out of football' . Catholics become protestant, atheists become jews, gays become straight and people fall out of love and get devorced but NO ONE changes their club and how do they repay that? they are not pissing in your face, they are shagging your wife and cleaning their dick on your new curtain.

We have alot of problems at arsenal and nationality at this stage is about as significant as a papercut

Is it a anti-french topic?
I voted for more brittishness, but more for the passport than the supposed fighting spirit. I think it's important to have people who understand the Club values, the brittish culture, the brittish football, etc ... and who will give 200% for the Club and not think about Barcelona or Real Madrid after 1 good season. It's something important for the Arsenal fans, wherever they come from.
But Walcott is english but has less fighting spirit than many foreigners, Ramsey is quite the same, he seems more like a latin than a brittish footballer in his game. It's not as easy as brittish = passion and french = lazy.

It's an English league and therefore I expect players to show the same desire and never die attitude as every school boy or Sunday league player shows up and down the country every weekend.

I couldn't give a flying fuck where they are from but the current crop lack bollocks. Yes we may harp on about the Adams, Keowns, Parlours etc but that is based on what we saw, men not the most technically gifted but willing to run their fucking arses of for the cause and winning trophies.

Arshavin as many is here for the money, he openly admitted his club of choice was Barca, Cesc cant even be bothered to watch the team that he captains close the season.

Sorry if it not quite politically correct to say we need some Britishness amongst our team but fuck the PC brigade.
