So Samba might be on his way

Looks like Arsenal have put a £8 million bid.
Probably get him for £10 million I reckon

No we will probably have £8m turned down, wait until the transfer window is about to close and we are desperate then offer £8m again :banghead:

He's a fucking monster and just what we need.

I'd love to see some *word censored* like Kevin Davies try to fuck with us with big Chris in our team!!!

It's so obvious he is EXACTLY the signing we need that hoepfully even the blind maggot Arsene Wenger will see it. I won't hold my breath though!

I watched a Blackburn game on TV towards the end of the season . This guy was a colossus . Cleared anything that came in the box on the ground and in the air . Last ditch blocks and tackles . A leader who shows real passion . And he can cause havoc in the opposition box when he goes forward .
Ok he's not the most cultured of footballers but neither was Sol . If we can get him for 10 million he would be a great addition and could form a great partnership with TV5. I prefer him to Cahill who i think is overpriced .
Arsene , get the cheque book out .

I'm firmly of the view that we need Premier League specialists and there's no doubt that this guy fits the bill. I still think for top level CL games we need someone more mobile but when I look at the lamentable defending at set plays this year and how many points it has cost us....well if this guy could put an extra six points or so on the board we'd be in a far better place.

Anyway, if it helps push Squillaci towards the exit door then that alone would be a worthy reason. It will also restrict our exposure to Mr. Ligue 2 "Le roi de circonstances particulieres"

There is a belief by people in the game that players making those last ditch tackles/blocks are only having to make these challenges is cos they are getting caught out positionally in the first place - I am not saying that against samba per se but am using it to point out a potential flaw in that line of thinking

Samba is indeed a big physical presence and something that we really lack but for me he just is not good enough for a club of our supposed stature. Ask yourselves this, if the guy is transfer listed next week how many of the so called top clubs would try to buy him ? I still really believe we can and should do better 8)

I agree to a point Augie but I think its pertinent that you say "supposed" stature because that is what it is becoming. Chris Samba six years ago would have been our equivalent to an Andy Linighan. Trouble is we now have Vermaelen, Djourou, Ligue 2, Squillaci, Bartley (who Rangers played mostly in midfield) and Miquel (our "internal option")...and personally I think Samba is definitely in the top 2 from that bunch. We know Wenger will probably do his usual in this poistion - i.e. sign one and probably let one or two go. So on that basis if Samba is the best we can do, then reluctantly I would do it because the fact remains it improves the current bunch.

Johan Djourou - the only centre half whose hair still looks immaculate after 90 minutes

I agree. Samba wouldn't be my dream partner for TV but he is better than the rest we've got, does provide a huge physical presence for when we play the Stokes of this world and I would prefer him to Cahill.
