Arsenal linked with huge superstar signingReports coming in from Italy following Inter Milan’s cup final win over Palermo, suggest that Samuel Eto’o , who came close to joining Arsenal in the summer of 2009 before joining Inter, could now be on the verge of signing for the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger is said to be very keen on bringing the Cameroon international striker to the Emirates to beef up an inadequate strike force, especially with Niklas Bendtner and Andrei Arshavin possibly leaving Arsenal, Eto’o would be a welcome breath of fresh air to a club whose only real effective first team striker remains Dutch International Robin van Persie.
It is not known at present what kind of fee Arsene Wenger and the board are prepared to pay for him but sources close to the North London club suggest a fee could be announced in the next few days.
If Eto’o ends up at Arsenal it would represent a significant coup for Wenger, it would also be a slight detour from his usual transfer policy, but will at least placate the Arsenal fans, who are starting to make their frustrations much more vocal
Signing an Ivorian in an ACN year?mikeyb772001 wrote:Really hope we get this guy
He wanted to come to us in 2008. Said he loved the club and that he wanted to join. I remeber the strorys at the time and he told Wenger that his door is always open for the chance to join us.
At the time i bet he was cheap.

Arsène Wenger wants to sign Lille's Ivory Coast striker Gervinho this summer but he faces competition from Liverpool. The Arsenal manager is a long-term admirer of Gervinho and he has placed him prominently on his list of targets.
Wenger has said that "for the first time in a while, I will be very active" on the transfer market yet the deal for Gervinho could hinge on his ability to sell Andrey Arshavin.
He is open to offers for the Russia forward, who has been a disappointment this season, and he would like to swell his transfer kitty by recouping the £15m that the club paid for him in the winter window of 2009.
Gervinho, 24, has made it clear that he wants to play Champions League football next season, which he would be able to do if he stayed at Lille, who have won the French title for the first time since 1954.
But the prospect of a move to the Premier League appeals, with Liverpool also an attractive option. Gervinho intends to make a firm decision on his future after Ivory Coast's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin on 5 June.
I'm sure Arsene can coach that out of him. Inciteful, penetrating runs with shots on goal at the end? Are you mental?augie wrote:Obviously this is another bullshit rumour from a bullshit website but I would fcuking love it if we signed etoWith this guy's genuine pace and finishing ability it would straight away speed up our slow ponderous attacks - I can just imagine him running onto some beautifully through passes from cesc/arshavin/jack/nasri
