PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Nice one Dan, can I ask how much it cost?
£200 return on the nose from Gatwick with Greasyjet. Out Friday evening, back Sunday evening. You can shave about £50 off that by going via Madrid but that takes too fucking long, or by going Ryanair to Porto but then you've gotta spend £60 & three hours on a train to Lisbon.

Pricey perhaps but I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure they'll put paid to the myth that you can't generate atmosphere in a spacebowl
It is a bit expensive, but if I had the cash I'd go anyway. Have a good time :-P

We'll be allocated two and a half blocks in Cologne (two blocks in the upper tier of the North bank and the terrace in the corner of the lower tier)... Prices for away fans are not yet listed but when you look at the prices for home fans that will probably be 23 euros for the upper tier and 9 euros for the terrace!

Info is up on .com. Prices are £21 for seating in the upper tier or £13 for standing in the lower. Gotta be standing for me!

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce a pre-season friendly against Portuguese side Benfica, to be played in Lisbon on Saturday, August 6 - kick off time TBC.

The Gunners will be taking on the 32-time Portugese Liga winners at their 65,000 capacity Estadio da Luz in an evening match. This will be the first time the teams have played each other since 1992, when Benfica recorded a 4-2 aggregate victory in the Second Round of the European Cup.

Arsenal’s pre-season preparations for the 2011/12 season also include an Asia Tour in July, with friendlies against a Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, July 13 and Hangzhou Greentown in China’s Zhejiang province on Saturday, July 16.

A trip to Germany to take on FC Cologne follows on Saturday, July 23, before the Gunners’ return to north London to host the Emirates Cup 2011. Arsenal will play Boca Juniors and the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 respectively in the two day tournament at Emirates Stadium, which also features Paris Saint-Germain.

And during! :drunk: God bless the Germans...

Was hoping it would be a little later tbh but could be worse, will be nice & hot at that time at least. I'll be in Cologne about 12.30ish. On the up side it means i can get a train back to Eindhoven that evening rather than having to get one ridiculously early on the Sunday morning...

What are the chances of getting a ticket at the gate if I decided to go over there on the day or the night before?

Pretty good I woulda thought. Stuttgart, Hannover & Warsaw all had tickets on the gate & all were unsegregated inside the stadiums. It was fucking mayhem at the box offices at every one of those though, so get there early

Would it not just be worth picking one up now? You'll only be £13/£21 out of pocket if you don't go...

The DFL German Super Cup is on the same day. It's the equvalent of our Charity/Community Shield.

This year is Schalke 04 Vs B Dortmund and it is being played at the Veltins (AUFSchalke) Arena. KO is at 8pm.

Due to these KO times if you wanted to catch both games you could as Gelsenkirchen is less than an hour up the road.

Dortmund - Schalke is a massive derby though right? Would imagine a ticket on general would be tough?

Still thinking about Benfica..it's just waiting for the kick off time to be announced so i know what flights into Faro i should get.
