Apparently Liverpool have bid for Clichy tonight, 5.5m.

Don't believe it, but at the daft prices Liverpool pay for players these days (£35m for Carroll, £20m for Henderson, £20m+ for Suarez) Clichy is worth more than £5.5m even with only 1 year remaining on his contract!

Although, back in the real world, £5.5m is probably about right. But clubs like Liverpool severely distort the market and should be forced to pay through the nose every time.

If Clichy did leave though, I'm fairly sure he'll go abroad.

He is a f*cking liability. A full back that can run, but cant defend or cross! In recent years, I reckon he has lost us more games/points than any other player. (maybe Almunia runs him close)

Take the £5.5m and drive him to scouseland I say.

We will take what is offered for him, that I am sure off, Wenger must be able to see what a liability he is and his mistakes are well documented, he is one player I don't see us haggling over.

Questions need to be asked of our Chief Executive who is supposed to deal with contracts, why two of our international's are allowed to get within a year of their contracts running out is reckless.

I've said that Clichy is a liability for years. I think that in today's market, £7m would be a fair price. Would be happy to see him go.

Well I've been going since the mid 70's and I can't think of any time that the lure of Arsenal was as you describe..... Throughout that time we've always lost out when going head to head with other big clubs!

Arsene Wenger has struck back in the battle for Britain’s best youngsters by landing £12million Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The highly-rated Southampton winger, who doesn't turn 18 until August, has jetted off on holiday in the knowledge that he will be confirmed as an Arsenal player on July 1.

The deal for the Southampton academy graduate - seen as the new Theo Walcott, also a former Saint - is understood to be based on achievements and appearances.

His signing is a coup for Wenger after he lost out to Sir Alex Ferguson in the race to get Blackburn’s Phil Jones this week.

Liverpool are considering a shock move for Arsenal’s Gael Clichy.

A left-back is a priority for Kenny Dalglish and the Reds have been alerted by Clichy’s refusal to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Arsenal may cash in on him this summer because he has only 12 months left on his deal - although boss Arsene Wenger would be loathe to lose the 25-year-old Frenchman to a top-of-the-table rival.

Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli believe they could land Clichy for a knockdown £6million.

Wasn't Walcott lauded as "the new Henry" when he arrived?!
