I'm sorry fuckers but as a punter that plys guitar i have no fucking time for DJ's. Write a song you robbing bastards, learm a fucking instrument you theiving cuntahs.

that makes no sense at all. so i take it you hate all covers? and every song has to have a different chord progression etc? i bet 90% of the songs you like are the same 4-5 chords in a different order. DJ's dont nick songs, they play peoples songs and create a mix like a journey, they dont stand on stage pretending that they made the music. The whole set is a musical composition made up of songs, mixed, crafted in a way to be a soundtrack or even an experience.

It is hard to mix well, and even harder to put a good set together that makes a good night.

So many people these days claim to be DJs. Sitting there at clubs or parties with a laptop and some flash looking software.

But how many of them actually put a good set together?

It is a craft, that takes years to develop, and research into good music to perfect.

Have you ever played a gig?

If so, was it all your own material or have you ever played a cover version?

If you go to a wedding and they have a band, should the band play all their own material, or play well known songs that people like?
Or of they do the latter, should they only do it for free because they did not write the songs, even though the composers of the songs do get paid under PRS law.

Are buskers wrong to play cover versions?

And I would love to go to a club where you were the DJ and see how you do.
See if you get them dancing or clear the dancefloor.

I'm quite surprised you absolutely miss the entire point.

Whatever those musicians are playing, they are playing instruments, they are singing/playing real live music by means of their hard-earned talent. A DJ is just a bloke playing CD's of someone else's music, for all intents and purposes.

If you cannot see the difference between musicians playing instruments/singing and a DJ standing there basically playing records then I cannot help you...

It's like comparing a footballer who actually plays football with someone that shows people videos he's editted together of footballers...

The DJ is not simply putting on records.

He has to know what order to play them in.

He has to have the intuition/experience to know how to build a set, how to build the crowd response to a peak at the right time in the night.

He has to know which records will blend into which other records without causing a loss of atmosphere or tempo.

He then has to be able to do that.

He then can sample bits of the records he plays to add in to his set, to repeat a popular riff etc.

He can also do this by use of keyboards or sound effects.

I am not talking about some bloke mindlessly putting one record on after another in a room above a pub.

I am talking about a modern skilled DJ, and it takes years of practice just like a musician has.

There are also DJs who have turned the art into Turntablism which is akin to a freestyle footballer's comparison with a team player i.e.

If you did then you would know how hard it is to DJ well.

I can only think you have never tried to DJ to a large crowd.

If you did then you would know how hard it is to DJ well.

It would be good if you could go to one of Bournemouth Red's gigs when he is DJing then try to take over and see how you do with no training or practice.
