Rushden expelled from Conference

Rushden expelled from Conference

Post by MK Gould »

Sad news about one of my local clubs:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13738222.stm

I've been to Nene Park many times, and saw them play away to Sheff Wed in the league and also lose out to Cheltenham at Cardiff in a play off final.

They never really had the catchment area to survive as a league team and relied too heavily on Mr Doc Martens, Max Griggs. When he left the club was signed over to the fans.....but they've really been on the slide ever since.

Always easier to punish team for financial indescretions when the team is playing in lower divisions  That is not me defending them but can we honestly say that a prem team would be treated the same way ? Would they fcuk

To right they wouldn't, if Portsmouth had been in the 5th tier of English Football they would have had the book thrown at them.

Thing is it aint only Rushden who suffer for their financial indiscreditions , Southport get reprieved to the conferance national , which leaves Conference North 1 short , Bishops Stortford get told they must go in Conf North and promptly resign & go in the Ryman , Chelmsford are then told to go in Conferance North and Thurrock who were relegeted from Conferance south get reprieved , seems a bit of a shambles to me that Chelmsford get punished for Rushdens offences.

On another note, Belgian 1st division clubs have withdrawn from next year's FA cup because they didn't make enough money out of it...

Anyone remember his son Daniel Talbot, who was in our academy for a while, the last I heard he was at Potters Bar Town but that is going back a bit.

Daniel Talbot is good mates with my brother. He captains Chesham in the Zamaretto Premier League.

Lets play Lower Leagues name dropping!!!
I went to my local newsagent/Offy this morning to get the papers and the ale in and bumped into Jimmy Knox, the manager of V.S. Rugby,(now Rugby Town again),when they won the F.A. Vase in the 80's.His brother is Archie Knox, one time assistant to "Fergie",and currently No.2 to Craig Brown at Aberdeen.
P.S. He is an old drinking buddy of my Dads.
