Terracing at the E*******
Taken from Arseblog
Ivan Gazidis has revealed that he is in favour of Arsenal exploring further the possibility of incorporating a safe standing area at the Emirates.
Speaking at a question and answer session with the Arsenal Supporters Trust the Gunners CEO stressed that it was right for a debate to take place about the return of terracing so long as it did not compromise the safety of spectators.
“It is something that I have always been open to,â€

More and more is getting done.frankbutcher wrote:Will never happen. The law would need to change. Would the plod allow it..?
What do you reckon?
The FSF have a roadshow, petition (

Don Foster MP raised it in Parliament this year and sent a bill round. It is a Lib Dem policy to allow it.
I could see AFC doing it. Charge about 60 70 percent of a current North Bank Lower seat but you could get in approximately double the people, more money so they will be happy.
However the government are simply useless.
Sent a long letter to my MP, she sent me back one and one from the Olympics Minister. I replied pointing out the myriad technical faults that they had included in their letters, and got no reply.

Yeah, really complex.61NeverAgain wrote:Taken from Arseblog
Ivan Gazidis ...
“The more I learn about it, the more complex an issue it is,

People stand in huge terraces in Germany, people stand in the lower leagues in England. What exactly is the complexity here?
The powers that be don't want it, and IG is just turning on the bullshite so that the AST go home and don't raise the subject again for a few months.
P.S. Please let me be 100% wrong on this one. Please!

If the majority of Premier League clubs got together to push the issue it could tempt the government to change the law.SWLGooner wrote: I could see AFC doing it. A populist measure for the electorate, and more gate receipt revenue means more tax revenue.

I've always thought its a bit pointless. I love standing at games, but will safe standing really be all that good? You still have to have your seat (well, not seat, but you know what i mean), you cant just rock up with a load of the lads and go anywhere you fancy which is one of the great things about "traditional" terraces and, whilst you are standing, there would be no surges as the team attacks etc. I just think it would be an incredibly sterile version of "the real thing" and the novelty would wear off very quickly. Plus you'd have the same miserable PC twats moaning at you for swearing because you can guarantee the fuckers would get into the standing bit, they get everywhere that mob. I think a lot of the time people think of a return to terracing and they think back to what terracing was like and think "that'd be great", this most likely wont be, it'll be a sterile, overcontrolled, soulless atmosphere that will take a lot of money and effort to make happen and i'm just not too sure that there would be great benefits.
It might keep ticket prices down a bit i suppose, but currently i stand at the SoL anyway and I'm not convinced safe standing would be any better than doing that, other than not having to tell a steward to fuck off every so often

This concerns me too. Even if standing was introduced I can imagine Arsenal charging the same price as they do for sittingBring Back Pires wrote:Incidentally, would people be willing to pay £35+ to stand up?
Because I really can't see them replacing seats like-for-like with cheaper standing tickets.

£20 would be a fair price for all parties I think, perhaps £25 tops. Say you take out 10,000 seats you can whack about 15,000 standing in that space.
