"If last summer we offered 40m euros (£35.1m) for Cesc, since then there has been wear and tear, now he's worth less," said Rosell.
"I don't know what will happen, but in the case that we were interested, we won't go mad and pay over the top."
Fine, we'll keep him. He's NOT worth less than Andy Carroll...

Idiot!

They dont really want him, they just want to pacify their fans by pretending to be interested in buying him
If cesc has his eyes open he will see this as the charade this is and maybe down the line when xavi retires they will actually need him and he will tell them where to go. I can totally understand cesc wanting to go elsewhere to win trophies but I think he is being very foolish by restricting himself to barca - if he really wants to go to barca then he needs to force their hand by acknowledging a willingness to sign for madrid cos barca fans would go ballistic if that happened and their president knows that

I'm staggered that he would want to go there after all this, ok, it's his home and the romantic side of him sees it as his destiny but does he really? If he did he wouldn't have left, I'm sure the way they are publicly undervaluing him must be grating on his pride a little bit.
He will stay this year, that I am sure off, IF we start winning stuff and he does begin to feel like a legend (as we debated) then it would be very hard to turn his back on it and they are not exactly making him feel wanted.
