Arsenal Considering bid for Defoe!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It depends who is leaving..if Bendtner is going he needs replaced if one of our wide men (AA, Nasri) is leaving he needs replaced..
Thats a wide man and a centre forward are likely going to be required, Defoe and Gervinho makes sense...

Such as?
He was injured for half the season. Then couldn't get back into the team due to how well Spurs had done and Redknapp loving a big lump up front. Its hard to recover your form if you don't play many matches after an injury.

I'm not saying he's great or the answer, but I think of all the reasons to NOT sign him this is the weakest.

I have had an e-mail this afternoon from a journalist mate of mine who says that he's heard from someone in the know (Sky Andrews I'm guessing because I know my mate has contacts with him) that Defoe's people have been having talks with Arsenal. So unlike the usual media guff, there is definitely something to this story. 8)

simon the northern gooner, if you knew anything about footabll, you would know AAs natural position is in the centre, its just AWs ridiculous management that plays him out of position....

but having looked at the top part of your signature, you live up to the northern sterotype, and indicate that indeed you know very little about anything....10 german bombers....christ almighty.

Would rather see Theo play as second striker alongside RvP than sign Defoe. Would do far more damage through the middle than playing wide.

And if anyone would know about making up stories, ity would be the guys at the Mirror!!

Like I posted yesterday, a close friend of mine is a sports journalist who - unusually for someone in that profession - is not prone to exaggeration. He e-mailed me and a couple of other close mates to let us know that there was definitely contact between Arsenal and Defoe's people. Doesn't mean a move will happen but I know whose word I trust.

what i meant was the guy who wrote the headline about arsenal in talks with tottenham over defoe was on talk sport. Through the interview they asked him about the stroy and he bascialy got caught out and said he didnt know if it was true or not

to be honest i hope its not true!
