So that's Cesc staying then

Post by CPHANMER »

"Udinese have agreed the transfer of Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez - a reported target for both Manchester United and City - to European champions Barcelona for around £33m"

So considering Barca said they are only spending 40m this summer I don't think they will take the piss out of us even further and offer 7m for Cesc...Obviously they will have more funds with player sales but can't see them selling 33m worth of players...

So will this now stop all of the talk of him going.. Hope so getting bored of it all to be honest, I mean how long does a transfer take for f£ck sake. Surely you can have a meeting with player and either club, smoke a cigar, drop of Chivas Regal then get the outcome 2 hours later... Seriously don't get how the Nasri, Cesc saga can still be going on. Wenger should say to them are you staying? Yes ok now we can plan with you here... No... Ok then let's
sort out the transfer today

For how much Barcelona cries, whines, whinges, and makes Cesc out to be "captive", they refuse to put down the money he's worth.

And until they do that, them and everyone related to their club can fuck right off with this "he should be home with us in Catalonia" nonsense.

Mes que un c*nt indeed.

What a signing though.

So next season they'll have Messi, Sanchez, Villa, Pedro, etc supplied by Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Mascherano, Afellay, Alves...

Seriously, WHAT'S THE POINT? Might as well hand them all the trophies now. :(

Cesc again ?

Post by Herd »

They also have worked themselves up into a lather saying we stole him therefore they shouldn't pay anything to get him back .

In reality thought they know he wants to go back so they low ball us waiting for Cesc to force they issue .
They are also banking on the that he he wont play for Real ,which Im not so sure about !

I think the only reason Cesc is having doubts about joining them is the lack of probable first team football. I mean last year he was probably pissed Barca didn't meet Arsenals asking price and played the whole season like a spoilt brat. Now I can imagine him wanting to leave (who wouldn't playing alongside the sh@t we have) but thinking "will I actually get a game?" There is no way Barca will drop Pedro, Villa, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta or Busquets as he is the only holding midfielder so that sought of leaves Fabregas surplus. If they didn't have so many talented players he would have already had 2 seasons as a Barca player under his belt. So I don't buy all this loyalty crap, he just wants to play football and knows he will be a benchwarmer at the nou camp

I'm getting passed caring about this 'saga' now, suffice so say, if he stays we'll be the ones to suffer, as he'll do what he did last season and sulk his way through the campaign to our detriment.

I'm not sure why he would want to go there now. They're comments about him being worth less were pretty embarassing. Cesc is a 45-55 million player, surely if you wanted him that badly you would pay it?

Tbh this summer I've not looked at many Cesc stories, I've been pretty sure he's staying for a while and unless they make the move he's worth (which they wont) then I can't see him being off to them for a while yet.

Only way he will end up at Barca is if we sell Cesc to another big club. they would then offer what he is worth no doubt.

I think like most, we're all pissed off with this will he wont he bollocks every summer.

The fact that the old duffer Hill Wood has come out and said "that as he is from Barcalona, it is understandable that he wants to go back" suggests it is just a matter of time and money before he goes.

They will probably use the cash to fund other buys as they don't want to dip into the slush fund they've built up for themselves!!

Cesc missed the boat for his dream move last summer and he knows it. I was sure that this summer they would not have the funds to buy him as I believed, and wrongly so it would appear, that whatever finances they have at their disposal would be used to strengthen their ageing defence. While it does appear that I was wrong on the 2nd part I think it is fair to say that the first part (their lack of money) is obvious for all to see. Personally, and I said this very same thing last summer, my preference would be for cesc to stay with us for a long time yet but only if he is fully focused and committed - if that isnt the case then I hope he moves to madrid to (a) piss barca and their scheming *word censored* off and (b) to allow us as a team and a club to move forward without it hanging over our heads.

I think the fact that Barca have contacted Arasenal regarding buying Cesc and the fact Arsenal have gone public about it speaks volumes.

I am sure Barca do have the money but they will only pay what they believe to be a fair price. All this talk of us wanting £45-50 million for Cesc is totally unrealistic.

As far as I can see, Barca want the player but will not pay higher then their valuation of him and won't be swayed by the emotional desires Cesc has to return home.

He wants to go, Barca want to buy him and Arsenal are willing to sell so can we please just thrash out a price and move on.

Hill-Wood also said he's not for sale. He probably answered a question. In an era where are board is accused of its secrecy its slightly refreshing to see some sort of honesty about the Cesc situation.

Not at all. The market dictates the prices. Cesc is valued at that price by everyone in the game bar it seems Barcelona. We simply don't have to sell him under valued. For Arsenal to let our best player go for only 35 million wouldn't make any sense at all, and with him being 24, would be an horrendous bit of business

I am not willing to have us ripped off for him which to my mind is anything less than 40million.

However like Frank said when he's pissing around bitching to his teammates, feeling sorry for himself and showing no leadership whatsoever, then he is highly detrimental to the team, so I'd like to see him sold. Preferably to Madrid.

Get a new captain, one who can absolutely lead, stop with this ridiculous formation built around massaging Fabregas' ego, and the team will be far better for it, as the stats show from last year. We had a better record WITHOUT Cesc than with him, as then not every move has to go via his divine fucking feet and we have a captain on the pitch who takes pride in the shirt.

If he is not for sale then why have Asenal not offered out a statement in the same way The Heebs have about Modric?

Hill-Wood hasn't categorically said he isn't for sale either just that "we do not want to let him go".

Big difference that!
