So that's Cesc staying then
Im finding it quite disturbing to find that some here are blaming Cesc (or building the team around Cesc) as a reason for Arsenals lack of success over recent years.
Cesc is head and shoulders the best player we have. As Number 5 says, his range of passing is outstanding - he can pass short, he can pass long, and he does it so instinctivly - he just knows where his teammates are. Have we really forgotten some of his defence splitting passes that have given him so many assists?
He is not a natural captain. That is not his fault. He is not a ballwinner in the mould of Vieira. Again, not his fault. If anyone wants to blame any single person for our our failings we need to look at Song. Ive watched him time and time again, and just slows everything down, and on top of that he doesnt provide adequate protection to the defence. Imagine Cesc/Wilshere alongside a pacey intelligent ballwinner...
Im really frustrated that we do not have the players around Cesc to really get the best out of him. And I can only imagine how frustrated he must be! Wenger has already given him the poison chalice of the Captaincy despite him not being a natural. I think we should sell him, get as much money as possible, and break the bank and get that ballwinner to play alongside Wilshere. My concern is that I dont trust wenger to get the right man.

Agree....on ssn at moment rosell is quoted as saying:Percy Dalton wrote:I don't blame Cesc for the lack of success at all but I just wish he would have the bollocks to say what he wants to do and fuck all this cloak and dagger stuff off.
"Fabregas is doing everything he can to join barcelona this summer"
"pep guardiola knows the value of players and cesc's is less than 40m euros"

If i were cesc i wouldn't be too happy with the latter statement even if it is just a cheap ploy to lower the final transfer fee, surely they value him more than that, his barca dna must be worth 50m euros alone

I think this quote should be changed to"pep guardiola knows the value of players and cesc's is less than 40m euros"![]()
This is gamesmanship from Barcelona. Why should Barca pay market value if they know that the player himself would rather go to Barcelona even if more money is offered from other clubs? If a quality player is wanting desperately to come to Arsenal, why do we need to outbid other offers? The selling club will risk having an unsettled player if forced to stay, or being sold to a less preferable club."pep guardiola knows that Cesc only wants to play for Barcelona, hence there is no real competition for him, hence Barcelona can pay less than his market value"
This situation is entirely Cesc doing. If he kept his trap shut, decisively quashed rumours, and stopped frolicking with Barca players, Barca would be offering more.

Good shout.Percy Dalton wrote:I don't blame Cesc for the lack of success at all but I just wish he would have the bollocks to say what he wants to do and fuck all this cloak and dagger stuff off.
To be honest I'm just too fucked off with all this.
If you wanna go then fucking say that. Fine, we'll sell you to Real or Barca.
If you are willing to stay, then say that.
If he actually came out and says he wants to leave (and leave for Barca) he is effectively handing in a transfer request. Im not certain of what the implications of that are, but I think Cesc would lose out financially, and the club itself would command a much lower fee.SWLGooner wrote:Good shout.Percy Dalton wrote:I don't blame Cesc for the lack of success at all but I just wish he would have the bollocks to say what he wants to do and fuck all this cloak and dagger stuff off.

Losers all round. And thats why not that many players actually hand in a transfer request. cesc has already admitted that he would like to play for Barca, and as a result we are already on the back foot.
Just let hime go that's what i say.... we could miss out on potential tagets waitnig for the outcome. Cesc has fuc&ed off to Bali so nothing will happen for 2 weeks minimun. Why did Arsene not make sure this got sorted out before he went away. Most players come out and say "I will sort out my future when i get back, that's when we will discuss contract etc". Sorry am i missing anything here..I tell you what Cesc, Nasri wait til the day before the Newcastle game then say your both off, leaving us up shite creek with no paddle for the rest of the season

personnaly i cant understand all the fuss about 10 mill .35 or 45 whats the difference ?if as a club we really need that 10 mill then we are up shit creek.ontop of that when other clubs see we have just got 45 for him then thier prices go up accordingly .we should'nt be playing politics with the club.AUGIE maybe right to say that maybe fabregas was unfortunate to be here when aw was rebuilding but how fucking long does it take to rebuild ?at a rough guess fergie is now part way through his third rebuild in the last 6 years.

I'm not sure there's any real mystery, cesc not saying what he really wants, etc...It's pretty clear that he wants to go, he's told the club, Barcelona have been in contact with Arsenal, they don't want to pay our valuation....
The club is in a tough position because Fabregas is generally near the top of his game, and he dna is going to used by more than insurance club barca to create a global vaccine against shit footballers like Denilson and Diaby, which is in the process of being developed and which will then be handed over to unicef. Upon which barcelona will be the first non-person (real or imagined) to be sainted. Fact.

The way I see it is:
1. Cesc would love to play for Barcelona, it is his home town where all his mates and family are from and they are possibly the best team ever - can you blame him!!?
2. Cesc also loves Arsenal, he has been here for years, is the captain, loves the manager and the fans and so staying isn't the end of the world and he has more respect then come right out and say he wants to leave right now
3. Cesc has given 4/5 of his best years to Arsenal including an extra season (as he might feel he should have been let go last year - and would have won the Champions League had he done so). I don't think he owes us much more
4. Barcelona know they are in a one horse race to sign him. It is simple supply and demand, they therefore believe they can get him for less than true market value and why wouldn't they
5. Arsenal aren't desperate for the money and can't afford to piss the fans off anymore by underselling top talent. Therefore we don't want to sell him for less than he is worth
6. Ultimately therefore, we end up in this stalemate as we did last summer
Every season this drags on, Cesc becomes more disollusioned with not getting his chance to play for Barca, his contract gets shorter and his price gets cheaper. Barcelona know he'll come eventually and he'll still be a great player at 28-29 so they can wait. Equally however as Barca's price gets lower and lower we become less likely to want to sell
If you were Barca why would you pay more than £30million? If you're Arsenal why sell him for less that he's worth?
The only way I can see this happening any time soon is if Cesc pays some money himself to make it happen!
Cesc isn't going to come right out and demand a move because firstly I think he respects the club more than that and secondly that will only serve to lower his value and make the move less liekly to happen as Barca will offer even less money.
How would I deal with this?
I think Cesc is only worth £45mill if he is at his very best. I don't think he will be able to truly give 100% for us anymore given his desire to play for Barcelona and therefore is only worth 80% of that value. Short answer- sell him now for £36 million but make damn sure you spend every penny on the team.
I also think before you get on Cesc's back anyone you have to imagine you played in the Arsenal academy but were basically told or knew you'd not be in the first team for 4-5 years and so accepted a move to an exciting team, say Barcelona abroad that would play you straight away. If then 5 years down the line Arsenal came back and said they want you back in the first team (squad at least) wouldn't you wanna go?? This is Cesc's home team, the team he's supported all his life, the team his best mates play for all on top of being the best team in the world!

I think more than anything else Cesc wants to play football, so your answer is in there somewhere.
It's all well and good wanting to be at the best club team in the world but if you are sitting on the bench for most of the season it wouldn't seem so terrific, after all he came to Arsenal so he would play and is playing.
I would have thought that he would wait a little longer thus gauranteeing a starting role.
I am sure he would be a lot happier with us if wenger just got some proven talent around him and made us a real title contender.
