Boas offers his resignation to porto.

Also he is reported to be taking at least one player with him (sure chavs will have to pay for him/them, not sure if your just allowed to Take players).
Updates

Maybe it's a buy one, get one free deal?

Am I the only one who thinks he'll be sacked by christmas?

Previous records count for nothing at that club, look at scolari who before going to chelsea you'd argue he was one of the best in the world, and look what happened to him.

To be honest I know very little about the guy apart from what I've read over the last few days. But I dont see what the fuss is about. He's had 1 really good year at a club that have always been one of the best in portugal, in fact porto have won the league 7 out of the last 10 seasons. Its like a celtic or a rangers white wash up in scotland. Winning the europa league was very good, but it really isnt the tournament it once was. What mede moriniho really stand out was winning the champions league, which imo is the hardest club trophy to win in the world.

I've got a feeling he's set himself up for a massive fall, he should have proven his calibre in the champions league with porto before thinking he's top dog.

I dont see what all the fuss is about :?

All I know about him is what I read on the very good "life after Arsene Wenger" article on the main page where he sounded pretty handy and very much a mini Jose

Sounds like he is far more tactically astute than Wenger and doesn't need any skilll in the transfer market as he is backed by millions so will probably do very well at Chavski

Of course I hope that he fails spectacularly, but there's very little chance of that.

As you've said, with the money that he will probably have to spend ( and I've read that Falcao is coming with him from Porto to chelsea as well ) and the fact that he's already worked at chelsea with Jose, so knows how the club is run, and speaks perfect english - well, I just can't imagine he will fail.

He studies his opponents in great detail ( used to do that job at CFC ), and for someone who never played football at any decent level, seems to understand it from a different viewpoint.

I have a few portuguese mates here, and even the non-Porto fans rave about him, especially after last season. Unbeaten in Portugal, and only lost 2 games in the Europa League, both to spanish clubs, when he won that.

I hope I'm wrong, but imo this is a brilliant signing by chelsea.

Seconded!

Just seen that before the Bridge goal at THOF Arsenal hadn't lost to chelsea for 5 years.

Then Jose came and we didn't win again for 3 and a half years until Jose went and Avram took over.

the mail did a good piece on him on tues.the bloke did a real apprenticeship ,not on the pitch but virtually every other aspect.ala jose he even ventured to tell bobby robson back in his barca days where he was going wrong.did his badges with a prem club ,got an english grandmother.if abramovich see's fit to back him in the market they could well dominate for a very long time. :( :(

He lived in the same apartment block as Sir Bobby Robson when he was 16 being part of Porto's 'observation department'. Got his Uefa C coaching license at 17 and managed the British Virgin Islands at the age of 21!! Even though I hate Chavski with a passion, being half portuguese I want him to suceed  I'm also happy that he has left Porto as I also follow Sporting :D

Agreed. Any money you like he won't see the end of the 3 year contract he's been given.

Exactly rodders, but I dont think he'll even make it 6 months. Lets just say they get 1 point from first 3 games (i know not very likely, but), he'll be under presure straight away. Even if he gets off to a good start, he cant lose more than three before december or he's in trouble. Clearly not the guy the likes of terry was after, they'll be screaming for hiddink the minute things get tough.

Spot on Bren, Lampard, Drogba, Terry et al won't take kindly to taking shite off a manager younger than them.

OR....

Lampard, Terry and Drogba will be off.

Don't think Villas-Boas will want to keep those three particularly.

His game isn't built around those type of players, and with Torres there I think Drogba will be off-loaded. Falcao is rumoured to be joining chelsea, and I can't imagine anyone wanting to keep Lampard, certainly not bowing to any of his wishes.

JT as well, I would get rid, and I'm sure VB will rebuild chelsea pretty quickly. He's got the money, and a 3 year contract, and I think he'll stay the course.

Of course I hope I'm wrong and that you and bren are right, but I wouldn't bet on it.
