A lump of an English lad with something like 13 goals in 65 championship games, going for a fee rising to 15m.

Would not have been anywhere near that even for 3m. If anyone has watched the guy play, he is not better than Bendtner.

He's a talented (young I agree) player who is DIRECT (not shouting just for emphasis). Mainly to put a marker down so in 4 years time I can say I saw his talent.

I am getting impatient with our summer of activity.

Despite arguments that Bendtner was (hopefully was) played out of position, I beg to differ. Agree re Championship though. as I said in previous response only time will say who was right.

Disgustingly over priced.

I don't see the fuss with this kid, he's an average talent. The new Dave Kitson without being ginger.

Don't forget wages come into the equation and our strikers are of course not overpaid.....

I accept that he is young so could well turn out to be a good player but in a team that already has too many young "promising players" ( ) and have paid over the odds on most of them deals, I personally wouldnt want the club to even consider buying him. Whenever I see us linked to a striker with a goals ratio like he has (and like gervinho has at lille) I automatically think bendtner at brum or chamakh at bordeaux and I see a glaring lack of a proper goalscorer

I just see him as DIRECT. Strong physical presence, 6ft 3in. If you get the impression I'm fed up with tippy tap..........

Quite excited like, just hope we can wrap the deal up without getting gazumped at the last minute (which still wouldnt surprise me). Its a lot to pay, but then we need to pay a bit over the odds to bring players in if they are being looked at by bigger clubs, and we just sold henderson for an inflated fee, so hopefully we've been able to promise the lad enough games to make it worthwhile for him to come to us. I think he'll be a good player and I'll be chuffed if he signs- could be a good foil for Gyan, or used in a 4-3-3, all good. By far the best thing thus far however is the way the liverpool fans have wanked over him for page after page before suddenly deciding that maybe they dont want him anyway, and locking the thread http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/ind ... c=276304.0

Like I say, still wouldnt surprise me if he goes elsewhere, but I hope not, wants him, wants him, wants him

We probably will, but then again we have sold two of our best players for about £44m, and last season we had 5 loan players and have only signed one of them permanently, meaning that we have a lot of money going spare but also have a lot of positions that need to be filled just to stand still. Bruce is good in the transfer market and I genuinely think we'll end up with a bit of a better side than we started last season with, but we're only going to spend fairly big because we sell fairly big, which isnt something I would imagine Arsenal would want to do. As I say, we could spend fairly big money on 6 players and have a similar standard of squad to the one we started last season with, you could spend big on 3 players and probably win the league (dominating striker, defensive midfielder and centre back)

To be honest, we quite often outspend Arsenal, this shows that from 2006-2011 we've spent more http://www.transferleague.co.uk/league- ... -2011.html (and this is despite us spending 2006-2007 season in the Championship) but it doesnt really mean much, we're still only just clawing our way towards the top half whilst the Arsenal are maintaining a top 4 position and presumably getting in a better and better financial state to challenge for the title again as the costs of the stadium move etc are paid off

fair enough . still at least sunderland are ambitious and will try to replace those players with others of equal talent
